Appeal To Unification Members Living In America

2011-12-16 · Source: tparents.org

Do you remember the time when Unification Church members in America hesitated to visit their own families for fear of being abducted and confined in secret locations, and then subjected to so-called “deprogramming?” Thankfully those days are gone in America. But today in Japan, our members still face this alarming threat.

Unlike America, Japan does not hold religious freedom as a core value. It does have several human rights organizations that focus on what is happening in other countries, but not in Japan. Almost every month ICRF receives a new report of UC members who have been abducted. A group of left-wing lawyers actively persecutes our Japanese church and defends the deprogrammers. The mainstream Christian churches who were our strongest religious freedom allies in America, strategically act as our adversaries in Japan. In fact, the majority of “deprogrammers” in Japan are actually Christian ministers. This is a disgrace!

ICRF has been aggressively proactive all this year, and has been making steady progress in turning this situation around. Here are some of our accomplishments so far:  Assisting In Jin Nim to visit more than 50 Congressmen and Senators to brief them on the issue and ask for their help.  Influencing the State Department to mention the abduction and faith-breaking of Japanese UC members in their annual International Religious Freedom Report.  Mobilizing rallies in 10 U.S. cities to protest Japan’s failure to protect human rights, with subsequent meetings with several Japanese consulates in those cities.  Registering an official complaint to the U.N. Human Rights Council, with educational events at the UNHRC and the World Council of Churches.  Issuing press releases with facts about current cases, with distribution to the national and international media, as well as on the worldwide web.  Supporting our victims association (SAFE) in their educational efforts and briefings of human rights leaders.  Providing educational events on U.S. campuses and at The Washington Times.  Giving in-depth presentations at international academic conferences, and even at the leading anti- cult organization, the International Cultic Studies Association (formerly the American Family Foundation).  Supporting the nationwide “Tour de Cause” bike challenge of Seijin Tranberg, the second generation youth leader who is currently cycling from Atlanta to Los Angeles to promote religious freedom in Japan.

Dear Family, our Japanese church members have asked for our help over this past year because the

situation in Japan is so different and even more challenging than it was in the United States. I am writing to you today to ask you to join ICRF in this cause to stop the abduction and confinement of our members in Japan. I am asking you to do this by supporting our efforts with your financial contribution. It is only with your help that we can conduct more educational programs, travel to key human rights and academic meetings and publish the needed materials documenting this shocking truth about the gross violations of human rights of our members in Japan.

Rev. In Jin Moon stated in her sermon on November 6: “Our members in Japan have suffered unspeakable atrocities. Do we want to grow up in a world where our human rights are violated? …. If we really want to fight the faith-breaking issue, we have to work together.”

Please share our blessing from America to bring religious freedom to Japan. All Donations to ICRF are tax-deductible. Visit our web site www.religiousfreedom.com to learn more about this issue, and to watch or read the victims’ testimonies. On our website you can also sign up to become a monthly donor. We really appreciate the supporters who are using our website to click through to amazon.com for their holiday shopping. ICRF receives a 5% rebate from Amazon for all your purchases. Thank you so much!

Our Japanese members have given so much heart and dedication to build True Parents foundation with Americans over these last 40 years. Now we have the chance to return the love in their hour of need, by a joint effort of support for ICRF.

Regarding Mr. Goto, who was held for 12.5 years in confinement by his relatives, please pray for the success of his court case. Prosecutors have refused to indict the perpetrators on criminal charges, so Mr. Goto is seeking justice through a civil suit.

Let me thank you in advance for your prayers and support. God bless your family!
