The world of Islam, more specifically radical Islam, seems to be perpetually in upheaval and regularly in conflict with the Western liberal democracies. Is there a principled perspective that can help us interpret the forces behind Islam, radical Islam and jihad?

The topic of our meeting on Thursday, April 24th is to consider Islam from the perspective of divine providence and then apply that perspective to the ongoing war in Gaza.

Thomas Cromwell, our presenter, spent 25 years living and working in the Middle East. He has authored numerous books, including The Principle:An Islamic Perspective. Taj Hamad, our respondent, is from Sudan and was raised as a Moslem. His decades long interface with the United Nations has kept Taj at the forefront of cultural and political issues facing the Islamic world.
