Please join our meeting of the Higher Purpose Forum on Tuesday, April 2 in an important concluding chapter in our long-running series: Providence & Race in America - Part One.

Our presenters are Christine Edwards and Jeff Kingsley. They grew up in the same town (Princeton, NJ), attended the same middle and high schools, and even shelved books together after school at the Princeton Public Library! Christine and Jeffrey are pleased to have worked together on this project (several years in the making) based upon their shared history, common interests, and unique perspectives.

Their talk will present a vision, based on Unificationist ideals, for true racial integration in the U.S. In observing the many divisions which seem to be widening in our society today, it may be hard to envision a culture which embodies God’s dream of racial harmony. Their joint presentation will focus on what a more racially-integrated culture might entail, and how Unificationism can contribute a unique perspective to its realization. A specific emphasis will be placed on the role of the arts in creating an environment conducive to advancing racial harmony.

We are pleased to have Rev. Zagery J. Oliver, an early and long-time supporter of HPF, as our Respondent.

Presenter Jeffrey Kingsley Jeff obtained his BA in economics from Rutgers University, and upon graduation worked as a policy analyst for the NJ Governor’s Office. He subsequently matriculated at Princeton University in the public policy graduate program. Jeff joined CARP in 1980 and was involved in campus ministry for the next 7 years. He earned his M.Div. degree from UTS in 1990 and returned to campus ministry work at Princeton University. In addition, he developed an ESL tutoring business for immigrant Japanese and Korean businessmen and then taught ESL in public schools for 26 years. Currently, he does private SAT tutoring, and is an advisor and content creator for the Higher Purpose Forum. His passion in activism througout his life has been to promote the complementarity between races, religions, and political ideologies.

Presenter Christine Edwards Christine is the daughter of an Afro-American father and a Swiss-German mother– her paternal grandfather being a minister in the AME church, and her maternal granduncle, a minister in the Church of Zwingli. She obtained her BFA in Fine Arts from SUNY in Purchase and an MRE at Unification Theological Seminary in 1984. Christine has done volunteer work with CARP campus ministry in New York and Germany. She worked at the New York City Tribune and the Manhattan Center and did contract work for the Professors World Peace Academy. Growing up in a multiracial family based in both the U.S. and Europe has profoundly shaped her life perspective which she brings to all of her endeavors.

Respondent Rev. Zagery J. Oliver Vice President, Universal Peace Federation Director of “Stop the Violence”
