Higher Purpose Forum Year End Update and Appeal - Exploring Important Questions Together — James Edgerly

This is an update on the progress of the Higher Purpose Forum (HPF), and a request for your kind support.

Here is a summary of progress we have made in 2021: 1. Our interactive website higherpurposeforum,org/ has been relaunched, and our database of subscribers has expanded to almost 500 people.

2. We have 28 web-based moderated discussions underway on important cultural and spiritual topics, attracting hundreds of thoughtful comments.

3. Top priority has been given to our “New Possibilities for Race Relations Project.” Our bi-weekly presentation & discussion meetings have generated meaningful inter-racial discussions on this challenging topic.

4. Based on content generated in those 25 meetings, and working closely with Rev. Zagery Oliver (Vice President, UPF USA), we have made considerable progress drafting our “New Possibilities” position paper. This detailed and carefully researched document will be completed by QII 2022 and will be the basis for an HPF public outreach program.

5. The Higher Purpose Forum has been incorporated as a non-profit and received our 501 C3

tax exempt number, which allows any donations we receive to be tax deductible to the donor.

Some participant comments regarding our “New Possibilities” web-based forums: The Higher Purpose Forum lets people of highly diverse standpoints conduct intelligent and constructive discussion of topical issues. I’ve been impressed by the sincere listening and sharing by so many on the forum. This is a fresh way of unpacking the questions of our society and our own responsibility. (Kate in Md)

Politics cannot solve problems that are spiritual in their genesis. If there are politicians who have an understanding of the spiritual realm and the root causes of racism, then we might be able to fashion political solutions for the earthly realm. The Higher Purpose Forum is addressing this challenge. (David in NJ)

I appreciate the Higher Purpose Forum so much because they address tough conversations with sensitivity, respect and appreciation for transparency and honesty. I have participated many times in Higher Purpose Forum online discussions. I have experienced an atmosphere of sincerity, honesty and genuine effort to understand challenging issues that face our nation today. The HPF members have inspired me to study American history from a deeper perspective. (Rev C. in NYC)

Our present objectives are to i) better integrate the HPF website with our “New Possibilities” project, and ii) deploy a targeted promotion program to better reach our targeted public audience. We are seeking to draw like-minded people into meaningful discussion on the social, cultural, and spiritual issues of the

day from a principled perspective.

That kind of content and outreach requires a monthly budget funded by incoming contributions. We ask you to consider making a contribution today, or better yet, pledge a monthly amount that will help us forecast our resources.

We are seeking to establish a budget of $4,000 per month to support two new part-time positions: 1) a Marketing Manager with an advertising budget, to increase our active subscriber database, and 2) a Coordinating Editor, to manage the interface between content creators, editors, and our website manager.
