UK National Interfaith Week Event - Al Mhadi Institute, Birmingham, UK

Around 150 people gathered for Peace, including quite a number of religious leaders, many ‘grassroots’ friends, and some young families.

Sheikh Arif, Director of the Institute; Maureen Foxhall, a local Methodist preacher, and former Hospital Chaplain; Preetpal Channa, co-presenter of a faith-based TV station; Machmooda Qureshi, from the Faith and Belief Forum; Bogdan Pammer, Youth and Students for Peace; and David Earle, presented talks on the theme ‘Towards One Family of Humanity’. There were readings from seven faiths and prayers for Peace, followed by several Ambassador for Peace Awards.

We raised around £400 for relief in Lebanon. Afterward, we chatted and socialized, sharing food until late afternoon.

It felt like the One Family we were talking about!
