WFWP Birmingham, UK's Al Mahdi Institute National Interfaith Week Event

Around 150 people gathered together for Interfaith Harmony Week, including many of our Women’s Peace Group, quite a number of religious leaders, many “grassroots” friends, and some young families.

Sheikh Arif, Director of the Institute, Maureen Foxhall, a local Methodist preacher and former Hospital Chaplain, Preetpal Channa, co-presenter of a faith-based TV station, and Mahmooda Qureshi, from the Faith and Belief Forum presented talks on the theme : “Towards One Family of Humanity”. There were readings from 7 faiths, and prayers for Peace. In addition, we raised around £400 in donations for relief in Lebanon.

Afterwards, we chatted and socialised, sharing food together until late in the afternoon. It really felt like the One Family we were talking about! Thank you to all who came, and contributed so in many ways.
