WFWP Birmingham, UK: Hosts the Young Women's Speech Contest

On August 4th, we had an outstanding Young Women’s Speech Contest in Birmingham, attended by around 70 people, many of them young women.

Our five participants, whose families originally came from India, Pakistan, Poland, and South Sudan, resented their thoughts on the theme of ‘Youth Participation and Leadership: Peacemaking and Reconciliation’ to the audience, which included a panel of four judges. They also represented the Christian, Hindu, Jewish, and Muslim faith traditions.

Everyone admired the five young ladies for their courage to stand up and speak publicly about their values and hopes for peace.

After putting one question to each participant, the judges deliberated for 30 minutes, considering Speech Delivery, Content, Presentation, and how their questions were answered.

Natalia, from Poland, was our winner and will automatically participate in the London National Final.

All the participants received a Certificate and a monetary voucher to spend.

Everyone did so well, which made for an uplifting evening together.
