Recently, we had a really uplifting, and deeply meaningful, Interfaith Peace Service and Holy Day celebration at a Unitarian Church in Birmingham’s city center.
With the theme ‘God on the Street’ we heard from the first black woman to be ordained as a priest in the Anglican Church, Rev Eve Pitts, who has a ‘street ministry’, walking everywhere she goes in her parish.
Then the UK General Secretary of the Namdhari Sikhs, Kuldip Singh Ubhi, gave a glowing testimony about the 2020 World Summit, emphasizing how far the Universal Peace Federation had come from the humble origins from which Father Moon began his mission, at ‘street level’.
Finally, two Muslim ladies, Shenaz and Husnat, shared tearfully about their work in Syria, beginning in 2017 when bombs were still exploding around them, helping women and children refugees in unbelievably dire circumstances.
During the reflection which followed, we collected £300 of donations which will help to buy medical and other basic supplies for them to take to Syria next month.
To conclude, six worthy ladies then received Ambassador for Peace awards.
We spent the final hour or so enjoying food and fellowship together!
