August 9th - solar (July 7th - lunar) 1997 was the Day of Declaration of “The Realm of the Cosmic Sabbath for the Parents of Heaven and Earth”

[excerpt from the participant’s report about what took place August 9th: ]

At the Kuri Training Center outside Seoul, at seven seconds past seven minutes past seven on the seventh day of the seventh month of 1997, True Father prayed to offer up the victory of meeting the 3.6 million pre-blessing goal, and creating a new holy day.

Throughout his prayer, True Father was overcome with tears. Afterward, he told Chung Hwan Kwak that he was crying so deeply that it completely overwhelmed his mind. All the participants (whom True Father estimated were 7,000 in all, representing the whole world) were moved by the great emotion True Father showed in his prayer. Clearly this was no ordinary occasion, but one of cosmic moment. True Father also said later that this was the most important proclamation he had ever made.

The content of his prayer was summarized by a translator later: Christianity should have embraced True Father in 1945. Because they did not, he had to go the seven-year course to indemnify their failure, and then restore all things through all levels in the 40-year course. Now, through the victory of the 3.6 million couples, we have the national foundation to protect the tribe, family, couple and individual, for the first time in history. Thus it is now possible to declare the realization of the cosmic realm of rest for the True Parents. The goal was achieved through the cooperation of the spirit world and the angelic world. Now we can go ahead to achieve the blessing of 36 million and 360 million couples, and thus the whole world, liberating all families in the world from Satan. This is a day of thanks and celebration, and the declaration of victory.

After the prayer, the ceremonies of a holy day were performed, with bows, the recitation of the pledge, the prayer of True Parents and the cutting of a cake.

At 10:00 am, True Parents returned and True Father delivered a speech in which he explained the significance of the day and the proclamation. Unofficial notes from the simultaneous translation of Lynne Kim follow.

Excerpts from True Father’s message of the 7th Day of the 7th Month 1997 lunar (August 9, 1997 solar):

In the past, there were no families in the spirit world. Now, through the blessing, we are making families that can continue in the spirit world. There is no place that cannot receive the blessing now. Stop hiding. Go to the leaders and ministers of your country and tell them this is the way to reverse the fall. Ours is a religion for families, not individuals. Thus it is of benefit to society as a whole.

Heaven is empty. We need to fill Heaven with families. Through the fulfillment of conditions on earth, God should be able to move back and forth between heaven and earth, without facing barriers.

This is the day on which God and True Parents can rest. The conditions to create a realm of rest for God are accomplished in eight stages: individual, couple, family, tribe/ancestors, nation, world, cosmos and God. True Parents have accomplished this, but all families must achieve it through restoration.

The ideal of the realm of rest for us is to have the peace to be able to have the wife at home and to be able to spend time with her, to be able to relax and enjoy all things together. There will be unchanging heaven and earth in peace. If you want, you will be able to sleep during the day. You will be able to be like a flower, living in harmony with your surroundings.

Even if you die for your mission, your children and grandchildren will follow you and bring it to completion. If we die on the way to God, we will be in His eternal embrace.

I have a foundation which is frightening, enabling me to proclaim God’s rest.

Parents have to make the way for God to come into the family. No people are that way yet. You are all failures. You must make a place for God to rest in your couple.

The collapse of the contemporary world has occurred to open the way for the spread of the foundation of the new messiah. Once the new foundation is made, God will be able to come and go freely, to individuals, families, tribes, nations, the world and cosmos. Get the 3.6 million couples to find ten couples each and we will reach 36 million. Get people in your lineage to do likewise.

I have cried a lot because you have not followed the way of God.

Excerpts from True Father’s message August 11, 1997 solar

The proclamation of cosmic rest is a good condition. All have to bow their heads in front of it, including God. You can go to heaven if you are grateful all the time. I cannot deny my blood relationship with you. You can do what I ask, and go where I go. Members are connected to True Parents through the blessing.

Only the Parents of Heaven and Earth should rest, because they have made all the conditions to do so.

Here’s an excerpt of True Father’s prayer on the 7th day of the 7th month (July) by the lunar calendar, 1997, which was sent by Dr. Tyler Hendricks to leaders in the United States on August 9, 1999:

“Today, it is the year 1997, July 7th, 7 o’clock, 7 minutes, 7 seconds. Your son, Moon Sun Myung, is age 77. These eight [recurrences] of the number seven signify that the number seven can connect to the number eight so that it becomes the time of the Sabbath and a new beginning day.

Now all Unification members, centering on a family which inherits the tradition, heart and authority of Heaven, can attend God, can have God rest in a nation, the world and the cosmos, so that they can face the victorious time when Kingship in the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth and in Heaven are established at the same time. The Foundation of the Sabbath where God and True Parents can travel freely expands from a family level to a cosmic level.”

After the forty-year period in the wilderness from 1945 to 1985, during the seven years from 1985 to 1992, providentially, the bridegroom and the bride had to create unity. On that foundation, the providential restoration of elder sonship, parentship, and kingship could start in 1993. Therefore, the Completed Testament era began in 1993. Finally, on August 9, 1997, we had the “Proclamation of the Realm of the Cosmic Sabbath for the Parents of Heaven and Earth.” Although we have many church holy days, Chil Pal (7.8) Jeol (as it is referred to in Korea) is, according to Father, the most important holy day.

Let us look at the providential changes through the history of the blessings. The nine different blessings starting from the 36-Couple Blessing to the 6500-Couple Blessing are the first stage blessings-the preparation stage. The second stage was the 30,000, the 360,000, and the 3.6 Million-Couple Blessings. Through these blessings, True Parents could restore elder sonship, parentship and kingship and proclaim the realm of safe settlement.

Before the 3.6 Million-Couple Blessing, Satan had dominion over everything. We had to pay indemnity to change anything from the satanic side to God’s side. But through the 3.6 Million-Couple Blessing, True Parents could restore the right of dominion. From then on, people could be blessed without having to pay indemnity. Since God has the right of dominion, He can bless us although we are very sinful.

This is a tremendous providential change. This is a change with an essential difference from all other changes throughout human history. It was a heavenly law that people could come closer to God only through establishing indemnity conditions. This is the first time we have been able to meet God without indemnity conditions, thanks to Heaven’s grace.

On August 27, 2008, the fortieth day since the helicopter accident, Father gives his own explanation of recent events and what they signify.

Ladies and gentlemen, through the Fall, Adam and Eve yielded their spiritual and physical bodies to Satan. Even though Jesus lost his physical body through the tribulation of the cross, he blazed the path of spiritual salvation for all humankind by achieving spiritual resurrection after the victory of the forty-day resurrection period. From this standpoint, this helicopter accident has tremendous providential significance. Amid an all-out attack from Satan, True Parents have obtained the complete, substantial victory, both spiritual and physical, and have enabled three generations of the True Family — which had been lost in the history of the providence — to be restored and firmly established without shedding a drop of blood.

On that unforgettable day, July 19, the day of the helicopter accident, rebirth was completed. On the twentieth day since the accident, August 7 (Chil Pal Jeol), resurrection was completed. Now it is the fortieth day since the accident, and as we tie this up in victory I am proclaiming the day of the perfection of eternal life. I proclaim the new day of eternal life, on which we can sing the praises of eternal liberation and complete freedom by opening up a new heaven and earth, the final ideal realm of the providence centering on God.

Now, January 13, 2013, promising a new time and new nation, is coming. Let us march on toward the day of the nation of Cheon Il Guk, the substantial kingdom of peace in which we may enjoy the eternal jubilee year by preserving God’s lineage and complete blessing and attending the original God as the Father of all humankind.

Significance of Chil Pal Jeol

1) This Holy Day is a declaration of God’s realm of Sabbath which was established on the foundation of the victory of the 3.6 million blessing, which is a global blessing ceremony of the perfection stage, and of the fact that God ushered in an era in which he can exercise his full authority. From 2007, the commemorative event for Chil Pal Jeol has been held on August 1 (solar calendar).

2) In the Bible it is recorded in chapter 2 of the book of Genesis that God created the heavens and the earth over a period of six days and rested on the seventh day. True Father emerged on the foundation of six-thousand years of the history of restoration through indemnity. He declared Chil Pal Jeol and entered into the realm of Sabbath at that moment when the number 7 (the number of rest) overlapped eight times, signifying the restoration of the number 7 at the 7th second of the 7th minute of the 7th hour in the morning of the 7th day of the 7th lunar month of the year 1997, in which True Father turned 77.

3) The realm of the Sabbath signifies a realm that transcends Satan’s accusations. Consequently, an era ushering in heavenly fortune began where God was able to exercise His full authority as He should have.

4) There are three providential factors that enabled the declaration of Chil Pal Jeol. First, is the establishment of a foundation of victory of having restored the three rights (restoration of the right of the eldest son, right of the parents and kingship) centering on True Parents’ family, on the foundation of having restoring these three rights on the vertical standard that was victoriously established.

Second, during his prayer for this declaration, True Father prayed “I thank You for the grace of allowing this day to be established through the emergence of a time of victory for a transnational blessing ceremony of 3.6 million couples, which can go beyond the satanic world.” Through this prayer, it can be seen that as of July 15 that day, more than 3.6 million couples worldwide were secured for the blessing ceremony.

Third, on April 10, 1992 True Mother founded the Women’s Federation for World Peace, ushering in an era of the liberation of women worldwide. Based on the success of her speeches delivered at the US Congress and UN Headquarters, True Parents successfully held the “Korean Leaders Convention for Practicing True Families for World Peace and Unification” held from July 22 to August 8 in 1997.
