(To “kick against the goads” is nothing less than an exercise in vanity; futile and pointless. The Greeks and Romans used this saying to imply “ruinous resistance.” Goads = a pointed rod used to urge on an animal Paul had to learn the hard way that resistance to Jesus was a losing battle — hopeless)

Rev. Lusardi (if I recall the spelling correctly) was a spiritual medium living in the San Franc. Bay area. He was young enough at the time to still be living today. He was the one who received the message from the Apostle Paul.

The message(s) were circulated and read in the US movement (Dr. Kim’s branch) in the late 60s and early 70s.

I remember feeling at the time that they had the ring of truth to them.

The Jews fell away because they thought that the Old Testament was sufficient for them. Their rejection of Jesus is proof enough they were blinded to the fact that He was the fulfilment of the scriptures.

Emanuel Swedenborg’s Unique Theological Contribution

Swedenborg was born in 1688 and lived until 1772. This means that he witnessed one of the most exciting periods of European history.

Louis XIV ruled France during most of Swedenborg’s life and made his court at Versailles a symbol of political power and cultural magnificence. Peter the Great was trying to reform and westernise Russia.

Then came a remarkable change in his life. In 1743 at age 55 he had an experience of spiritual enlightenment. As he put it, heaven opened up completely to him and he became the channel for direct revelations from God.

Before he died at age 84, Swedenborg had written over 16,000 pages on theological topics alone, all based on his psychic experience of spirit world.

According to Swedenborg, there is a correspondence between what takes place on earth and what occurs in the other world.

For me, Divine Principle’s idea of the polarity in God sounded like Swedenborg’s idea of God’s dual essentialities; Divine Wisdom and Divine Love.

Since man is a representative image of wisdom and woman is a representative image of love, there is need for them to have a reciprocal relationship.

Isn’t this like our Unification theologies emphasis upon the polarity of man and woman and the need for give and receive?

There are two worlds, the spiritual and the natural. These are distinct, yet similar.

Spirit world has trees, mountains, cities and societies, just as does the natural world.

The only difference is that each thing in one world is spiritual which is natural in the other world.

For Swedenborg, Providence works to save all men, whether they are Christian or not.

Everyone who lives by the principles of the Ten Commandments is saved.

Swedenborg also denies the Pharisaic idea that all men will be physically resurrected at the last day.

Actually, every man rises again immediately after death. He thinks he still has his body, exactly as it was on earth.

The corporeal form however, is no longer of use to him. He henceforth sees spiritually and feels spiritually, because he uses his internal rather than external senses.

According to Swedenborg this literalistic method obscures the real message of the Bible. If the Word is divine, it must have a spiritual meaning.

As God reveals Himself in 3 ways and there are 3 heavens corresponding to these, so in Scripture one can find celestial, spiritual and natural meanings.

So the doctrine of the last judgement - in Swedenborg’s view- does not mean that heaven and earth will perish.

Instead it means that a new church will appear both in heaven and on earth to carry out the Lord’s purpose.

Nor will mankind perish in the last judgement, as literalists believe.

The human race will continue for all eternity because it is the basis upon which heaven is founded.

According to Swedenborg, conjugal love is the highest kind of relationship because it expands the innermost things of both mind and body.

In heaven there is no domination of one partner by the other.

Husband and wife experience the joy of mutual sharing, and delights exceed all others. Thus, genuine conjugal love is an image of heaven.

The primary part of worship is a life of charity, and its secondary is praying.”

That shows the real Swedenborg of which his theology was a natural by-product.

Jakob Lorber 1800 – 1864

A Christian mystic and visionary from the Duchy of Styria, who promoted liberal Universalism.

While devoted to music, Lorber followed also his inclination to deepen his spiritual understanding, diligently studying the Bible as well as the works of men who followed the “inward path”, among others such mystics as Jakob Boehme and Emmanuel Swedenborg.

On 15 March 1840 he began hearing an ‘inner voice’ from the region of his heart and thereafter transcribed what it said.

The New “Gospel of John” contains 2000 pages claimed directly from Jesus.

Can you imagine a more frustrating experience than the one God had?

Here is God who among all the peoples in the world chose the Jews to become “His own people” because they were the only ones who in the old days had kept the belief in One God.

He made a covenant with them (Abraham), freed them from slavery in Egypt, gave them a unique law, gave them a beautiful land, educated them, blessed them and forgave them their many sins.

But when He finally comes to visit them in human form in Jesus to bring them eternal life they reject Him and kill His body.

You may know that Jakob Lorber was a 19th century mystic who wrote a books on spiritual subjects by automatic dictation - he heared a Voice, God’s voice.

Experiences with Jesus

Before True Father (Dr. Sun Myung Moon) made his first appearance to me in a dream, Jesus appeared to me one evening, shortly after I accepted the Divine Principle, I was lying on my bed when Jesus appeared at my bedside. He told me that I must go through the crucifixion with him. At that point I was suddenly on the cross.

I could see and feel the nails pierce my feet and hands. I could feel the crown of thorns on my head. I lay in my bed, writhing in the total anguish and pain of the crucifixion; I was there with Jesus on the cross.

After it was over, I knew the deeper pain was in Jesus’ heart, and I knew that if I continued to go this way I would experience an ongoing crucifixion of my self. How sober I felt!

Another time Jesus appeared in a dream, letting me know how much he loved me, how he was a man of flesh as any other man, and that as much as he had tried and desired, he could not complete his work. For this he was most sad and, in a way, broken. I shall never forget his personal love and kindness in this dream.

Jesus appeared to me again for a last time. I was in a place not unlike heaven in the spirit world. Jesus appeared in the distance and began approaching me. At one point he stopped and gave me an ancient salutation. As he did so, a voice spoke and all around me the atmosphere rumbled with the sound. It was like the voice of God and it said, “This is Jesus, the Christ.”

Peter, my second spiritual son, and I drove down into Lawton one night to witness. The place was deserted. We headed back to the post, when all of a sudden I knew I had to return to Lawton. I told Peter to immediately turn the car around, that there was someone we had to meet.

He was puzzled and a bit miffed at me. Still, he obeyed. With a little anger in his voice he said, “Where do you want me to go?” Without thinking I said, “City Hall.”

When we arrived there were several people on the lawn. Peter said, “Which one” I pointed to a American Indian woman sitting on a park Bench, “That one.”

I walked directly up to her and asked her if I might speak to her. She said, “Yes, I have been waiting for you.” Peter nearly fainted. I asked, “How did you know?”

She said, “Jesus came to me in prayer this morning and told me to go to the park bench in Lawton at the City Hall. There you will meet two young men who have a great message for you.”

I was so humbled. Jesus had not only appeared to me in dreams and at my bedside, he was personally opening the way for me to witness to others.

One in Spirit Next Heung Jin Nim asked me, “Will you be my medium?”

I replied, “Yes, if that is what God wants me to do.” I told him that I would feel blessed and privileged to work with him, even though I didn’t feel worthy in any way. He tied our wrists together with a white ribbon; and taking hold of my hand, somehow he took my spirit out of my body and his spirit entered in.

In spirit he came to the Lancaster Gate ballroom and the people there began to see Heung Jin Nim instead of me. He sang a song for them, and as he sang more and more people came in the main door of the ballroom until it was completely packed.

Heung Jin Nim left me there; his visit had lasted an hour and a half.

Five days later, on January 29, Heung Jin Nim spoke through me to all the members on our national witnessing day. He gave us a great deal of strength and encouragement.

He said that he and Jesus were very united, and that Jesus and many high spirits would work together with us to bring people during this period.

Also Heung Jin Nim was contacting many pure-hearted young people in the spirit world to help us. We should have faith and not be afraid, he said.

If we united in spirit with him, the nation could go forward.

1. Can we have communication with God when we are in the Indirect Dominion? No matter what stage you are in, you can still talk to God directly.

In the Old Testament Age, prophets talked to God directly, even though they were in the position of servants.

Many mediums talk with God directly through their clairvoyance and clairaudience ~ It can be done even though you are still in an imperfect stage.

The Direct Dominion does not mean that you cannot communicate with God. Direct communication is not Direct Dominion. A father or mother can take care of little children - directly ~ at is not direct dominion.

Direct Dominion is dominion by the absolute love of God ~ In other words, it means to have direct rule or regulation of mans love by the love of God.

God cannot have dominion over man’s love until man is mature and is aware of love ~ Suppose man is aware of married love, or sexual love, at the age of 16 ~ God could not have dominion over his love at the age of 13 or 14, because the child would not be aware of it. God does not want to talk about it or control and guide it so early.

He has to wait until the child grows and becomes aware of that sense. God cannot have Direct Dominion until the child grows. Besides this however, God can have direct communication from babyhood.

Direct contact is not direct dominion.

2. It is very important to record your first experiences when you contacted the Divine Principle and were full of thrill. Then when you are in a low period, go back and read it; It will remind you, and bring you back.

If you don’t have such a record, recall this in your memory.

It says in the Bible to remember your first love [Rev. 2:4-5]

So go back to your first experience of gratitude and excitement. Then try not to go down from this level where you started.

3. It is under my spiritual dominion that these phenomena appear (my Spiritual appearence in different forms), so I can appear to a thousand people at once.

What I am doing is affecting the whole world.

Therefore, whenever I make condition or do something, unusual things happen in the external world.
