This week, we would like to spotlight the inspiring efforts of our sisters June Darby and Mieko Davies, who have recently travelled to Africa to support Heavenly Tribal Messiahship (HTM) missions in South Africa, Malawi, and Nigeria.
For Mieko Davies, joining the HTM mission to Nigeria was an opportunity years in the making. Although the chance came unexpectedly when another participant was unable to attend, she felt it was “something I had been working towards for years.” Travelling with Manfred Mayr, the mission focused on Abuja and Calabar. Highlights included being introduced to a national audience at the 25th Coronation Ceremony of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, visiting universities where students have begun studying Divine Principle, and exploring the establishment of the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles. Reflecting on the experience, Mieko shared that the trip demonstrated how opportunities for witnessing are continuing to grow through international collaboration, helping to build lasting connections between communities.
For June Darby, her HTM journey brought both challenge and inspiration as she travelled through South Africa and Malawi. Welcomed warmly by local members, she was deeply moved by their kindness and practical support, even amidst their own challenges. In Blantyre, she was met by Ronald Mwambo and witnessed preparations for a large-scale Blessing, with members travelling from across the region to take part. Despite difficult conditions and visible poverty, June was struck by the faith and determination of the community, particularly their efforts to build a centre, run a bakery, and cultivate land to support their mission.
Through their journeys, both sisters exemplify a heart of service and faith in action, showing how HTM work continues to grow through dedication, courage, and genuine connection across cultures.
