Korean Unificationists Pledge Unity with True Parents

More than two thousand members gathered at the Palace of Heavenly Blessings (Cheon Bok Gung) on 6.4 by the Heavenly Calendar (July 4) to participate in the Assembly for Blessed Families and Members from Around the World to Resolve to Carry Out True Parents’ Proclamation. Mr. Jong Gwan Kim, Director of the Office for Planning and Coordination of the Korean Church, was the Master of Ceremonies.

This day’s event included a report prayer (Note: this is the term used to describe the opening prayer because Father declared in the early 2000s that we should no longer “pray” but instead “make reports” to God.) by Rev. Sun Jo Hwang (President of Universal Peace Federation [UPF] Korea), the reading of True Parents’ Declaration by Dr. Jun Ho Seuk (President of Unification Church [UC] Korea), an opening speech by Dr. Bo Hi Pak (Heavenly Viceroy to Mongolia), a report on the current situation surrounding UCI by Mr. Seong Il Cho (Director of the World Missions), the reading of the Statement of Purpose (below) by Ms. Nan Young Moon (International President of Women’s Federation for World Peace [WPWP]), and finally the joint resolution and pledge (below) led by Mr. Gyeong Deuk Yu (International President of the Youth Federation for World Peace [YFWP]) and Ms. Hye Geon Song (President of the Jeju Island Chapter of WFWP).

In his report prayer, Rev. Sun Jo Hwang appealed to all the Blessed Families around the world to become one in body and mind, pass on the tradition inherited from True Parents to their descendants, and to make a covenant to stand upright in front of God, True Parents and the True Family. Moreover, he confessed that we are sinners in front of True Parents because we have been unable to adhere to the teachings True Parents have given us through Hoon Dok Hoe, their words and their life. He emphasized that we should make firm the strict standard of faith that True Parents have instructed.

Following the report prayer, Mr. Jong Gwan Kim gave a brief explanation of the organizational chart of the True Parents’ Declaration Implementation Committee, and then Dr. Seuk, co-chair of said committee, came to the podium to read True Parents’ Proclamation.

Through the opening speech, Dr. Bo Hi Pak testified about when he first heard the Principle in February of 1957, during his days as an Army Major, and how he came to know about Mr. Sun Myung Moon being the Messiah and Savior. He stressed that it was a heavenly blessing among blessings and a glory of glories that he could meet the Messiah, as an unworthy person out of the billions of people alive on the earth. He testified that he still feels as moved as he did the first day that he met the Messiah 54 years ago.

He added that True Parents’ words are as law to him and to Blessed Families, and absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience are rules of life, but nowadays there are people who disobey True Parents. Not only have they made the mistake of disobedience, but they have disturbed Unification Family tradition, and are deceiving and misleading church members.

Dr. Pak lamented that UCI was founded to support True Parents’ providence of saving all the world’s people, but it no longer serves that purpose. He noted that today’s UCI is obliterating all of True Parents’ foundation and historical traces in Washington, DC. He also revealed that UCI intends to sell True Parents’ private plane, which was presented to True Parents on the occasion of Father’s 80th Birthday. This, he stated, is the most undutiful and unfaithful thing for them to do.

Dr. Pak stressed that it is now our turn to take action and urged that “Blessed Families [take action,] becom[ing] fire fighters who put out the fire of disobedience and treason.” He shed hot tears while emphasizing that True Parents were sent by God to save humankind, that they are the King of Kings and our eternal True Parents, so Blessed Families must exhibit an eternal and unchanging allegiance to True Parents, which is the privilege of Blessed Families.

Finally, Dr. Pak said, “The Unification must absolutely not divide. We must not look at the current situation lightly. We must not be tempted, no matter what. We must not waver.” He cried out, “We have our International President Rev. Hyung Jin Moon! He is an exemplary dutiful son and faithful subject!”

Dr. Pak emphasized that we must all unite centering on International President Hyung Jin Moon and that we must not allow the church to divide. He entreated members to use moral suasion with their brothers and sisters who are with Rev. Chung Hwan Kwak by helping them to repent and kneel before True Parents.

He concluded his opening speech with a call for unity and urge for action.

Next, Director Seong Il Cho reported about the current status of UCI while expressing his hope that the gathering would not be a place where anyone criticizes anyone else, but instead a place where the issues at hand can be recognized precisely and a new beginning made through repentance. After Ms. Nan Young Moon, International President of WFWP, read the Statement of Purpose, Mr. Gyeong Deuk Yu, International President of YFWP, and Ms. Hye Geon Song, Chapter President of WFWP Jeju Island, led everyone in a resolution and pledge to fulfill their duty and providential responsibility as children of True Parents.

All the participants made their pledge with the hope that this assembly would give Unification Church Blessed Families an opportunity to train themselves and unite rather than waver or become confused.

The Significance of Announcing the “Resolution and Oath of the Global Membership on

the Occasion of True Parents’ Declaration” As we eagerly await Foundation Day on January 13, 2013, we, the members of the Unification family, offering our devoted effort in great hope and joy, find ourselves standing at a crucial crossroads. We are facing great inner suffering, which words cannot express. This pain stems from our True Parents, who are deeply anguished in heart due to the disobedience of UCI. Our pain stems from the attack on our sincerity, values, pride and honor that is rooted in our life of sacrifice and service together with True Parents, and by the violation and misuse of the public funds that have accrued through our tears, sweat and blood.

True Parents have endured this situation that results from actions carried out by Hyun-jin Moon, Chung-

hwan Kwak and his family, and those who support them, over the past two years. True Parents have

waited long for them to repent and return on their own volition. Despite this, however, they have

rejected True Parents’ ardent wishes and expectations and, rather than returning to True Parents, they

have gone to further extremes.

To prevent further confusion and obstruction to the providence, True Parents prepared, signed and

announced “True Parents’ Declaration” (4.23 by the heavenly calendar) on the cosmic level. This opened

the path for the UCI leadership and members under their influence to return without further distancing

themselves from True Parents. This declaration expresses True Parents’ desperate plea. It arises from

their fervent heart overflowing with longing for the prodigal son to return. It is truly tragic that a situation

has arisen within the Unification community such that the True Parents, who are God’s substantial self,

are compelled to announce this declaration.

We must quickly and resolutely bring an end to the current ordeal. True Parents are offering jeongseong,

shedding blood and tears each day as if it were a thousand years in order to open the way to an ideal

world of everlasting peace. We cannot permit them to endure the pain and anguish of having their hearts

trampled on in so cruel a manner. The public assets created by True Parents, blessed families and

members for the salvation of humankind must be used properly for the providence.

UCI has become a group that seeks to appease our members with words while establishing its bases in

Korea and other parts of the world. We must denounce UCI’s ongoing sinful behavior and bring an end to

these activities. We must welcome Foundation Day in joy and glory. It is to be the day of the completion

of the substantial Cheon Il Guk, realized through fulfilling the path of loyalty and filial piety with absolute

faith, absolute love and absolute obedience in front of True Parents.

We desire to clearly proclaim our firm resolve and determination to all of the spirit world and the physical

world. We sincerely hope that everyone can truly and fully understand the significance of the ‘Resolution

and Oath of the Global Membership’ and actively take part in stating this resolution that is being

announced in the name of all blessed families and members of the Unification community.

Resolution and Oath of the Global Membership on the Occasion of True Parents’ Declaration

As we eagerly wait for Foundation Day, we, the members of the Unificationist family, are today faced with the imperative to march forward to the day when Cheon Il Guk will be made substantial, amid great hope and gratitude. Unfortunately, much confusion has been created due to certain incidents caused by UCI. To address this confusion, on 4.23 by the Heavenly Calendar (May 25, 2011), True Parents gave strict instructions and commands in “True Parents’ Declaration.”

In order to fulfill our duty in attending True Parents’ family, we, the blessed families and members, make the following resolution. We should not waver or be confused by the challenges that we face. Instead we should come together and use this as an opportunity to turn the current situation to our advantage in consolidating the blessed family community.

1. We express our deepest regret over the circumstances that have inevitably compelled True Parents to announce this declaration. We thank them for this grace, given with true love and devotion, in making these matters clear. Through this, we resolve to align ourselves and the entire Unificationist community with God’s will and heart, thereby fulfilling without fail our responsibilities as we head toward Foundation Day.

2. We unequivocally admonish Chung Hwan Kwak and his family that surround Hyun-jin Moon’s family, and those who sympathize with them, to refrain from engaging in actions that go against God’s providence. We will do our best in good faith so that they can repent sincerely and return to their proper positions. Furthermore, in the name of our blessed families and members we resolve to reject and actively correct any actions that contravene the providential traditions and values established and manifested by True Parents and stated in their declaration.

3. The current board members of UCI have gone against the instructions of its founders, the True Parents. They have trampled on the faith of Unificationists worldwide. As a result, UCI’s providential foundations and public assets, which have been built up through the devotion of True Parents and members around the world, have fallen under private control and are being lost. In the face of these developments, we resolve to recover them all, reorganize them according to True Parents’ will and do our utmost to ensure they are used as the central tools of God’s providence.

4. We resolve to overcome the current challenges with wisdom and fulfill our tribal messiah mission in order to realize the ideal of one family under God. To this end, we shall restore the essence of our faith, carry out a complete internal reformation, and fulfill the way of loyalty and filial piety to True Parents. Through the unity of Cain and Abel we shall create a community overflowing with love, kindle the fire of the Holy Spirit and the Word, and become proud blessed families and members who can offer precious results to Heaven.

We, the blessed families and members, once again confirm our aforementioned determination, and declare in front of heaven and earth that the purpose of this resolution is rooted in our innermost heart to victoriously bring fruition to God and True Parents’ providence.

With full awareness of the current circumstances, all blessed families, brothers and sisters of the world who uphold God’s will, solemnly resolve and pledge to fulfill the path of True Parents’ children and our providential responsibility.
