The founder of the Universal Peace Federation, Rev. Sun Myung Moon, passed away on September 3rd, at 1:54 AM Korea time. Father Moon, who was 92, had been suffering in intensive care for almost three weeks from complications following pneumonia. He passed peacefully, surrounded and supported by the love and affection of Mother Moon, his family, friends and members of the Unification community worldwide.

The SeongHwa memorial ceremony and service for Father Moon is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 15th at 10.00am, at the Cheongshim World Peace Center, just outside of Seoul, Korea. The Ascension Ceremony Advisory Board requests the honor of your presence at the ceremony. We hope you can find time in your busy schedule to join us in Korea.

As our honored guest, your travel and accommodations will be taken care of by the committee. We will be in touch with your office to work out the details. The final schedule of events is still being formulated; however, we do plan for a time when you will be received by Mrs. Moon and the family for a special private reception.

If it is not possible for you to attend we would like to request that you send a letter of condolence and tribute to Mrs. Moon and her family. In the interest of time, please reply as soon as possible to Ms. Reiko Thorne. Sincerely,

Invitation to attend the Memorial Services for Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon

I am sure by now you will have heard the very sad news of our Founder’s passing, in the early morning hours of September 3rd, 2012. Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon’s life has been one of complete dedication and sacrifice for the ideal of world peace, one family under God. His accomplishments are unsurpassed.

Throughout his life, Father Moon has taught us that human life passes through three stages: nine months in the womb, a hundred years or so of life on this earth, and then our final home in the eternal world of spirit. He has said that the occasion of ascension into the heavenly realms should be one of celebration and commemoration. We therefore expect that these ceremonies in Korea will be a time of solemn but joyful commemoration of an extraordinary life, lived in sacrificial devotion to God and all humanity.

In announcing the details of the memorial service to the Korean and world public, we are assembling the names of a “memorial committee” of prominent people whose lives have been touched by Father Moon. We would like your permission to add your name to this list, to be included in the memorial notice which will be published in the next couple of days. If you are willing to be so included, in the interests of time could you please reply immediately to Philippa Clarke.

Thank you to all those who have sent messages of support and encouragement at this time.
