World Unificationist Family Prays for Founder after Hospital Admission

Rev. Joshua Cotter, vice president of the Unification Church USA, issued the following statement on the health crisis of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, today.

“The worldwide congregation of the Reverend and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon are praying and fasting for the quick recovery of the Founder of the Unification Movement who is in critical condition after entering a hospital with symptoms of pneumonia on Aug. 13th. Rev. Moon has been placed under intensive care with respiratory problems, according to hospital officials at St. Mary’s Hospital in Seoul.

The wife and children of Rev. Moon, including his daughter, Rev. In Jin Moon, president of the American branch of the church, are at his side at the hospital. Unificationist followers immediately joined their international president, Rev. Hyung Jin Moon, who called upon the church to offer daily prayer and scripture reading as a condition of solidarity with the Founder for 40 days. Rev. Moon, 93, referred to universally as “True Father” by members of the Unification Church, and hailed as a prophet by religious leaders of dozens of faiths, was pushing his body to the limits prior to falling ill. Rev. Moon is well known for working an exhaustive daily schedule even in advanced years, whether speaking publicly to clergy or fishing on the ocean.”
