Rev. Joshua Cotter, vice president of the Unification Church USA, expressed condolences to the friends and family of six murdered members of the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek, Wisconsin on Wednesday.
“Unificationists across the nation join all Americans in mourning for the victims of a tragic, unspeakably cruel massacre in Oak Creek, Wisconsin on Sunday, August 5, 2012. We are one family under God, and this attack upon our brothers and sisters of the Sikh community has wounded us all,” he wrote in a statement. “Now is the moment for the family of faith to gather round the Sikh martyrs and to honor their lives with our solemn commitment to wipe away the hatred that still denies God’s dream to all people of faith, indeed to all people on earth.”
The Reverend Michael Jenkins, Chairman of the American Clergy Leadership Conference also issued a statement:
“On behalf of the thousands of pastors of the American Clergy Leadership Conference, we offer our prayers for all the victims of the shooting at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The nation has been again traumatized by the appearance of evil in the form of someone mentally deranged and fueled by hatred. Such acts are against God and the tenets of all faith communities. We ask all of America to embrace our Sikh brothers and sisters and stand firmly together to call upon God to bless, heal and protect them in their time of great sorrow. As Americans we ask that all believers vocally and publicly promote the love of Jesus for all faiths so as to reduce the possibility of those possessed by evil to pick on minorities of religion, race or any other classification.”
