Facts Relating to UCI's Challenge to True Parents' Authority

We are the most Blessed people in history because we are living together with our True Parents who are the hope of the future and the entire world. At the same time we are extremely fortunate to be alive at the moment in history when True Children have come of age and are being entrusted by True Parents with great responsibility and leadership for the world providence.

Unfortunately, at this time of greatest hope we are also facing the most serious challenge to the authority and leadership of True Parents. This challenge comes from Rev. Kwak, Hyun Jin nim and those supporting them. Although the seeds of this dissent were sown many years ago I intend to focus on the chronology of events that have taken place since March 17th 2008, with the ascension of Hyo Jin nim, the eldest son of our True Parents.

True Parents’ primary concern is for the spiritual lives of our Blessed Central Families. For this reason they have given specific instructions to the True Children who hold official church responsibilities and to the worldwide church leadership to educate our members with the truth about what Rev. Kwak and Hyun Jin nim have been doing these past three years in direct disobedience and defiance of True Parents’ wishes and directions. The last providence before the establishment of Cheon Il Guk is the protection of God and True Parents’ eternal position. As our International President, Rev Hyung Jin Moon constantly reminds us that there is only one eternal True Parents and our primary mission is to absolutely unite with them in heart and in deed.

At the end of his life Moses’ successor Joshua, in speaking to his leaders said, “Choose you this day whom you will serve… As for me and my household we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15.) In the same way Rev Hyung Jin Moon challenged the major leaders of our worldwide church (at a meeting of Continental Directors on 10/15/2010) saying, “As for me and my family we choose to serve God and True Parents. Whom do you choose to serve?”

Numerous blogs have been full of inaccurate statements from those who support Rev Kwak and Hyun Jin nim, in an attempt to justify the events surrounding UCI and the misuse of the public assets of our worldwide movement. Therefore I want to publish an accurate account of these events and actions so that concerned and thinking brothers and sisters can see for themselves the truth that continues to tear at True Parents’ hearts.

Hyun Jin nim, the third son of our True Parents, answered the call of True Parents in the 1990s taking a major leadership role in our movement, standing in the Abel position. As we know from the study of history God often entrusts us with various roles and asks us to take responsibility for both the positions of

Cain and Abel. From True Parents’ perspective Hyo Jin nim as the eldest son carried the responsibility of the Cain position while Hyun Jin nim was in the role of Abel.

On March 17th, 2008, the day that Hyo Jin nim transitioned into the Spirit World, True Children’s responsibilities shifted. This was made clear by True Father three weeks later at King Garden in Hawaii, on April 6, 2008, on the occasion of the 49th True Parents’ Day. True Father directed Hyun Jin nim to stand in the position of Cain and Kook Jin nim to stand in the position of Abel and gave them the direction to unite centering on True Mother. It must have been a shock to Hyun Jin nim to suddenly find himself in the position of Cain. However, he is now clearly in the eldest son position in the True family and as such his role has changed. Hyun Jin nim did nothing wrong. It was the passing of his elder brother that necessitated the shift in Hyun Jin nim’s role. We know that in spite of the current circumstances Hyun Jin nim will be victorious for God and True Parents and shake off the spiritually stifling influence of the Kwak family in order to return to True Parents. That is all that True Parents are seeking

On January 15th, 2009, True Parents appointed Hyung Jin Nim, their youngest son,to be in the position of Abel in relation to the True Children. Further, True Parents entrusted him with the responsibility of the worldwide Unification Movement. This ceremony was repeated two more times on January 31st , 2009, in Seoul and in New York, on the same day, so that True Parents could be sure that all the members of their family including Hyun Jin nim could witness and accept the authority of Hyung Jin nim as the center of the family. All the difficulties that Hyun Jin nim has experienced since that time are directly related to the fact that he has never accepted the authority bestowed on his younger brother, Hyung Jin nim, by True Parents.

As we go through the chronology of events and present the facts of the last three years it will be very clear that True Parents’ wishes and directions have been repeatedly ignored, undermining their authority. True Parents, True Children and our worldwide church family are outraged, shocked and appalled at the selling off of precious assets without the permission of True Parents, by those who currently control UCI. The best way to resolve this challenge to True Parents’ leadership is for Rev Kwak, Hyun Jin nim and their supporters to come to True Parents in humility and repentance and receive their forgiveness.
