Remember Spring 2011? We could be having a repeat

2012-01-31 · Source: tparents.org

Last spring we had a v special visit from our Unification Movement’s founders, our True Parents, in which they took 3 days to be together with our membership, speak to several thousand people and also visit several historical sites around London.

Many people in our Unification Movement community, Unificationists and Ambassadors for Peace, pitched in to help with the visit and make it a memorable experience for so many. We even had good national newspaper coverage.

The first words of Father were: ‘have you distributed 430 copies of the autobiography?’ and his final words while waiting to get on the plane out of Luton were: ‘please educate 13,000 people by 2013.’ Essentially asking us ‘are you finding a way in your life, to represent me, and share the good news that I bring?’

With those words in mind it is a good time to reflect on how as a movement, as communities, as families, and as individuals, we have responded to that message and instruction, and think how to continue to respond in this year.

Not least because I just heard we may be having a repeat visit from True Parents this spring.

Since May last year many people have bought whole batches of autobiographies and probably several thousand books have been distributed. There have also been quite a few people attending Divine Principle workshops and lectures. As well there are so many other different initiatives people are involved in and projects that people are developing; too many to mention here.

We certainly could do more as an organisation in making our efforts coordinated and strategic so that there is a clearer picture of how we build towards sharing the Principle message and our blessings with 13,000 people.

But I believe that many of the most exciting answers and opportunities for making all that possible will

come up through the grass roots, (rather than down, from up on high). That means from all of us, in our capacity as people in local communities, living a blessed family life, all be it sometimes a challenging one. Why? Because that is where the best ideas, the most diverse talent and most authentic and passionate spirit is – in our families and members. I see many people who don’t carry any organisational positions of authority, really leading many of us forward because God is involved in their life.

A friend of mine is always telling me we live in an era now when we can only be successful when we experience shared leadership and work together as a team. So, not going to tell you what to do, but just want to ask:

Are you ready yet, in yourself, to help lead our Unification Movement mission forward into the 21st century?

If you have questions, feedback, thoughts, and ideas you want to share in respect of those ‘final words’ about educating 13,000 people, why not leave a comment below or get in touch.

It’s always going to be collaborative and creative process. It’s just God’s way of creating.
