Inauguration Ceremony Ken Doo as Vice President of FFWPU-USA and Sub-Region 5 Director

This Fourth of July Weekend was a weekend of change and new beginnings for our Las Vegas Holy Community.

On Saturday, many of us attended a deeply moving Seong Hwa Ceremony for our dear brother, Jim Rigney.

Then on Sunday, at the International Peace Education Center, we attended the Inauguration Ceremony for our pastor, Rev Ken Doo to the position of Vice President of FFWPU-USA and Sub-Regional Director of Sub-Region 5. Dr Andrew Compton was the emcee.

The inspiring program began in song. Led by the recently recreated Haven Street Band-- David Hirano, Bobby Veith, Monica Halenko, Jeffrey Silerio and Gregg Smith — the congregation joined in singing two beautiful holy songs and, in tribute to Independence Day - “America the Beautiful”. Two offering songs were also performed. Through this musical beginning, our hearts were well prepared for the program which would follow.

Mrs. Lydia Compton offered the Invocation. Then Bishop Ron Thomas of the Reconciliation Apostolic Ministries here in Las Vegas-- who had taken time away from his own church service to attend Rev Doo’s inauguration-- offered an enthusiastic, heartfelt and joyful congratulations. He especially emphasized that Rev Doo had been called by God to this new position and that his wife and family were also called, to “build up a hedge for his people”.

The Inauguration Ceremony was a national level event. It was attended virtually by Bishop Ki Hoon Kim, Chair of North America Cheon-Eui Won, Dr Chung Sik Yong, Chair of the North American Regional FFWPU and President Naokimi Ushiroda, of FFWPU-USA. Each offered Congratulatory Messages and encouraged Rev Doo in his new responsibilities.

Bishop Kim spoke of Rev Doo’s sincere devotion for the sake of True Parents’ Providence and thanked him for always answering True Parents call. He concluded his remarks by asking all leaders and all families to unite---with True Mother’s blessing---so that we can fulfill our portion of responsibility and bring a great victory for the Providence.

In his Congratulatory Message, Dr Yong remarked that after major victories such as the June 5th Peace and Blessing Celebration, Heavenly Fortune often comes down and changes take place. He welcomed Rev Doo as part of the national and the sub-regional leaders’ teams and encouraged us all, as the elder son nation, to show how to love and bring unity to the world.

President Ushiroda described Rev Doo as someone who cares about developing a community of heart that will attend True Parents. He announced that in his new role Rev Doo will carry the three responsibilities which were given him by True Mother: to develop a Hyo Jeong Family Café in Las Vegas, to oversee Sub-Region 5 (the West Coast) and to continue as our local Las Vegas pastor. He encouraged all of us to support Rev Doo in his new position.

Following the congratulatory remarks, Dr Compton shared a brief biography of Rev Doo, then invited the Doo couple to the stage. Irvin and Kaylee Teo, a young second generation Blessed couple, made an offering of two beautiful bouquets, representing our entire community’s respect and love for Rev and Mrs. Doo.

At this point, Mrs. Doo left the stage and Rev Doo delivered the Inaugural Message.

After first expressing gratitude to True Mother for trusting him with this mission and to Bishop Thomas, Dr Yong and President Ushiroda for their encouraging remarks, Rev Doo began his Inaugural Message by quoting Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish”,

He spoke passionately about True Mother’s vision to create and expand Heavenly Parents’ Holy Community. as the banner under which all spheres of life can gather and receive Heaven’s embrace. He mentioned our motto “One Family Under God” as a plea that all mankind learn to live for the sake of one another and practice True Love. And he described the “Peace Starts With Me” campaign as a revelation, an inspiration to bring peace to the world by starting with myself, my family and my community.

In this context, Rev Doo asked: How do we do that? Arguing that it is not rocket science, he asked us to help him realize True Mother’s call by sharing true love in our own family and then by establishing a strong Las Vegas Holy Community which can stand as a model to America and the world. He spoke of doing simple things like picking up the trash, helping someone carry a heavy load, cleaning the bathroom, visiting and praying for the sick and congratulating the successes and achievements of our members as the first step. He concluded his message by asking us to receive the call for those who need us, help establish Heavenly Parents’ Holy Communities throughout America and offer them to True Mother by 2027.

Rev Mark Tengan, FFWPU and ACLC leader in Sub-Region 5 joined Rev and Mrs. Doo for the traditional cake-cutting celebration. A Congregational Offering was given and Mrs. Compton gave the prayer. The band led us in singing “The Generation of Righteousness”, Rev and Mrs. Doo gave the Benediction and Jonathan Jesper, with his baby daughter in his arms, led the cheers of OK Mansei to conclude this inspirating event.

My Reflection By Wilmot F. Dennis

Standing in the back of the room recording the inauguration of Rev. Ken and Mrs. Song Doo along with the Doo family on Sunday July 4th allowed me to capture the messages from the speakers. I observed that the messages came to me in two ways, a congratulatory and an inner self-reflection.

The first speaker Bishop Ron Thomas of the Apostolic Reconciliation Church of Las Vegas set the stage by congratulating the Doo Family for their anointing and blessing by Our True Mother (Only Begotten Daughter).

The Bishop continued citing the classical biblical story of the Prophet Samuel, one of my favorites (I Sam 16:1-23); instructed by God to anoint His New King in the house of Jesse in Bethlehem. Upon seeing Jesse first son Eliab posture he (Samuel) concluded that he (Eliab) was the new chosen king of God. However, our awesome God and King of all Kings made the prophet Samuel aware of his view point when choosing an individual, family and people for His Will, the rest is history.

Bishop Thomas also brought the awareness to Rev and Mrs. Doo, that the anointing and blessing of the True Mother to the Doo family is an anointing and blessing to all families and peoples, another classic of our True Parents teaching and tradition “living for the sake of others”.

Concluding his message, the Bishop pledged his family and community support to work with Rev and Mrs. Doo to realize True Mother’s vision for Las Vegas in creating our Heavenly Parent Holy Community for humanity.

Bishop Kim’s congratulatory message reflected on how Rev and Mrs. Doo have attended our True Mother so diligently through the years. Sitting next to the recording camera I viewed Bishop Kim’s message as also sharing light on David’s attitude before being chosen and anointed as the Lord New King, and how he shepherded his family herds with diligence.

Dr. Yang and President Naokimi both offered congratulatory messages encouraging Rev Doo and offering their fullest support as he embarks on the task ahead (creating HPHC).

And then Rev Doo took the stage, calm and friendly as usual, unveiling his vision for the task at-hand. He Echoed our True Mother’s call for creating HPHC for humanity. I was inspired by how he reiterated True Mother’s call for (HPHC). He asked what has been True Mother’s motto for the past (3) three years? His answer was “Peace Start With Me”. And it dawns on me

“Yes”!!! Before announcing (HPHC) True Mother’s message to humanity her children have been

“Peace Start With Me”.

The messages allowed me to reflect on how best can I welcome our God and Heavenly Parent of True Love, True Life and True Ideal; realize His Original plan for His creation of a peaceful world (One family of mankind with one True Parents) is simple when peace starts with me?

St. John’s vision in Revelation 21:1-3 left humanity with many unanswered questions; of how, when and where this was going to be realized.

But as our True Mother continues to guide us to knowing and understanding the Heart of our Heavenly Parent long expressed through His prophets and only begotten son (Jesus Christ), of our duty as filial sons and daughters of heaven (Isaiah 66:13, Luke 13:34).

In conclusion, the messages synchronized from the beginning to the end of the Inauguration. The Lord’s words of awareness to the Prophet Samuel is our True Mother’s message to me on how to welcome and create HPHC is Peace Start With Me. I am the source of peace for my family, my nation and all HPHC worldwide. Also, our God sees the inner me and so He continues to invest in me and I can reciprocate His investment by becoming a beacon of peace to my brothers and sisters’ families in His Holy Community.
