True Love Divine Principle Course Seminar at the Las Vegas Family Church

This was the first True Love DP Course Seminar (November 23-24, 2019) using the new reading material and hoondok method (reading and discussion in a small group – guided by a facilitator).
I felt it went well. Everyone, from the young to the elders, had a good learning experience.
Through this first test – it became clear that the ideal schedule would be to go through the introduction on a Friday night – and then have guests return the following Saturday when the other 4 chapters could be covered in one day (from 9 am to dinner at 6 pm).

Truly loved the content of each session. Surprisingly the Divine Principle was not too complex for me to understand. In fact, it was easy to follow through each session. I am truly grateful for being able to attend this workshop because it answered all my curiosities that I had in this belief [our church’s teachings]. In all honesty I was wavering as to where I stand in this faith. But, thanks to this DP workshop not only was I able to build a strong foundation for my faith, I also hope to learn DP more in the future. I am truly grateful. I will strive to practice true love and hopefully help True Parents and God’s dream (the ideal world). Let us promote love to our people!!!
Akira Watanabe (CARP Leader)
It was an amazing experience. Everything was organized centered on “True Love.” And it was consistent throughout all the sessions. I especially love the way that this content was introduced … by explaining about the function of conscience. That was so relatable. It made Principle so relevant. I hope to see a Power Point to come out to support this reading material. I am inspired to use this content for our upcoming 7-Day Workshop
Terry Walton (elder blessed member)
This workshop was a very good introduction to the basic concepts of the Divine Principle and also could be used as a study guide (such as in a classroom setting) for teaching this introduction level of the
Principle. The thing I found most valuable as an older member in our faith was the chance to reflect on my life and experiences and to share with and heart from others – their life experiences relating to God and spirituality. The Hoondok method of reading around the table was very good for eliciting comments reflections and questions.
All in all it was a very good experience. Well worth the time.

Here are the ways I though this DP workshop study course was exactly on target.
The book is simple, clear, and to the point
You don’t editorialize, but make space for our thoughts in the questions at the end of each reading
You were accessible to receive comments and questions and respond thoughtfully w to them
You loved each of us and took our comments seriously
The course is amazingy short, yet conveys the depth and breadth of the DP quite well. I’m amazed!
Because the course is short there could be room for short lectures before and after each section, as well as longer discussions and Q and A.

Two big points that really struck me were Jesus and his great accomplishment and the importance of the Blessing. When Jesus was left by all, including God, he was still able to love and forgive. I would always hear people praising Jesus and holding him in such high regards, but didn’t understand why. I see now how great he was, because to love people even though they betray you – that I could not do.
Second point, the Blessing, to me was not important. Working on my relationship with God and people were the only important things. Wanting a spouse seemed like a shallow desire, but I now see that this is not my desire, but a mission to help God. If I am to truly bring God happiness I must bring all his children to his tree of love. Being blessed is not just a desire, but part of my 5% to be a family centered on God which helps others come to God. I thought I was humbling myself by not wanting this, but I think now I was being arrogant thinking I knew what was best.
A. Maimot (Elder Home Church Guest)
A lot of things went wrong from the beginning of the Human Fall, but God is giving all His people another opportunity, practicing true love. With the teaching and example of Rev, Moon and opening our hearts, we still have a chance for a better world.
