In the afternoon of Saturday, June 23rd, Las Vegas Family Church held a Blessing Introduction Program. The program included a brief two-part Introductory Seminar as well as a delicious BBQ dinner. The event gathered 38 adults and 15 children and was hosted by a team of 13 church brothers and sisters even Las Vegas temperature was reached 110°F. The participants included both young and elder couples and the group as a whole was culturally, racially and religiously quite varied.
Rev. Compton’s lectures focused on two main aspects of the Blessing: 1) the Blessing Movement as a means to transform our society and world by creating a global network of God Centered families and 2) the impact of the Blessing on the lives of individual couples. He presented this content in a joyful, uplifting and truly guest-centered way. In this way he was able to encourage the guests to feel the importance of becoming Blessed couples.
The participants were fully engaged throughout the introduction and afterwards, when guests spoke about the lectures and what they learned about the Blessing, they said things like; “it [sounds like the Blessing will be] beautiful, very nice” and “I enjoyed [the lectures] very much.” Most of the guests were visiting CHG for the first time and were also inspired by the beauty of the grounds and the food.
Many of the children enjoyed swimming in the pool while their parents listened to the lectures, others remained inside with their parents and waited until the lectures were finished before swimming. All of them had a great time!
The program ended with a delicious BBQ dinner consisting of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, soda and chips provided by the church and a wonderful buffet of delicious potluck dishes prepared by LVFC brothers and sisters.
The conversations around the tables over dinner were animated and continued well after the formal end of the program. It was an inspiring event! Participating parents and children alike really look forward to coming again!
LVFC volunteers are also excited by the promise of future such events! It was hard work, but very gratifying. “It’s good to be doing something directly connected with the Providence.”
Since this was the first BBQ and the first Blessing event since the Japanese Missionaries left Las Vegas and since CARP is on summer vacation, special thanks must be given to all the volunteers who worked very hard helping to make the program a success: Akira & Yoko Ota, Thanh Le, Mimi Morse, Dieu Nkwethet, Heidi Iseda, Sang Moo Borneman, Lydia Compton, Adela Maimot, Kum Ae Jares, Juneyoung Juma assisted Rev & Mrs. Doo in conducting this special event.
