Compton Family's Tribal Messiah Activity

Andy and Lydia Compton invited several neighbors for a birthday party and neighborhood conversation on February 2nd. Five adult neighbors & three children attended. Planned as a Tribal Messiah activity, we began by asking each person to share about themselves and why they moved to Las Vegas. Next, Lydia led a conversation about our neighborhood, its good and bad points and what can be done to make it better. Andy then led everyone in a Holy Wine toast and offered a prayer for building a heavenly neighborhood, community and world.

It was Andy’s birthday but it was discovered that three others also had birthdays in February. So, all of the birthdays were celebrated with cake & ice cream & the traditional birthday song.

After that the group sang songs together — using our karaoke machine---and took a group photo.

It made a big difference that Las Vegas Family Church members who live in the area--- Songmoo Borneman, Mary Hida, and Wendy, Josh and Onka Herstein--- also attended.

It was a simple event but everyone had a great time! And, before leaving, all of the guests were invited to the next birthday event in March where the conversation will deepen and more birthdays will be celebrated.
