Report from Las Vegas for April 15, 2015

Greeting from Las Vegas – it’s 4:30 in the morning and I can’t sleep. Maybe it’s the time change, or maybe it’s because I am so filled with hope and excitement!

We are attending the American Leaders’ Conference (myself with Lydia and Justin). So, please don’t expect a newsletter this week. Instead, I will give you a brief report.

Dr. [Ki Hoon] Kim gave some beautiful opening remarks – emphasizing the importance of give and take, relationships and good communication. When we have real relationships of heart, the power of God will come and great things can be accomplished.

Miilhan Stephens, our new young Vice President, gave a brief report from the Foundation Day International Leaders’ Conference in Korea. He was especially impressed by True Mother’s clear and strong leadership. Her 4 major points were 1) Tribal Messiahship, 2) Grow your roots (through God’s word) 3) the importance of planning and creating effective systems – by which our goals can be specific and our movement can be more efficient, and 4) the raising up of young leadership.

By the way – young leadership is strongly present at the meeting: Mari Curry (also FFWP Vice President), Katerina (sorry not sure of her last name) Vice President for WFWP, and besides them, a number of other young leaders (2 District Pastors and numerous local pastors).

Much of the first day was spent listening to “Best Practices” from each District. Those presentations were followed by Q & A and discussion as to how we could apply them in our own Districts.

What stood out:

1. Making relationships is the key – in building a healthy community of faith, and this is especially evident in the success in several areas, such as in 1-on-1 witnessing in LA, Calif.

2. The process by which we grow in our faith (Sunday service, study, small groups, etc.) and the process by which people can connect with us, grow to the point where they can receive the Blessing and become Tribal Messiahs are important.

3. The value of reading and discussing God’s word (Divine Principle, Cheon Seong Gyeong, etc.)

4. In the midst of what could be a confusing situation in our movement- due to the influence of some of the True Children, the best way forward is not to accuse or let ourselves be pulled down by it, but to simply remain united with True Parents and the Divine Principle and work to become successful Tribal Messiahs

I am looking forward to today’s agenda, and I am looking forward to getting back to NY - I want to work with you and bring success in all the events that are soon to come:

 We will be launching our NY Dist. Witnessing Campaign May 3

 True Mother will be coming to NY on May 22 to speak at East Garden (9:00 am)

 The International Peace Education Center is going to open (and there will be a national level 7- Day workshop there the week before its official opening, May 15-22) – and True Mother will be here in Las Vegas for that event.

 May 2 we will have our NY District Council meeting at the White House in Tarrytown

Finally – in case you were not aware, we have begun a 40 day Prayer Condition, beginning April 13, to prepare our hearts to receive True Mother in America.
