Pastor’s Weekly Greeting Hello Brothers and sisters,

Last Sunday I had the pleasure and honor to Emcee the installation service for Pastor Tanya. I believe everyone felt the presence of our Heavenly Parent. If you look below you will find a report on the event by Pastor Tanya.

In all things, when we go through a period of transition – it is an opportunity for a new start and for great things to happen. At the same time, it is when we are most often put to the test. I am sure God is watching us – with the expectation that we will put into practice the Principles that True Parents have taught us.

Let’s all pray for God’s blessing on Pastor Tanya and True Parents ministry in Manhattan!

This coming Sunday we will be gathering together at Camp Sunrise for our NY District Unified Service. I look forward to seeing you there. It will be a great opportunity to fellowship, to enjoy God and each other through the creation, and to create the spirit of unity centered on our True Parents that will take us forward towards the realization of Cheon Il Guk.

Please arrive by 10 am

You can bring a picnic lunch – or you can purchase lunch (Bronx, Queens, the Latino Ministry, and others will be selling food). The FCNYC Band will be performing Andrew Compton will be the Emcee Demian Dunkley will be giving the sermon And we will have the Il Shim Graduation guided by Yasu Yukawa and Susan Bouachri.

Its going to be a great day!

If you missed the sermon at Belvedere (like I did) you can view it on Vimeo. The link is below. Steve Honey does a wonderful job - using music and the theme of resonance to encourage us in our life of faith.

And don’t forget to invite your guest to the upcoming Korean Cultural program on Saturday June 14.

Let’s keep striving to resemble our Heavenly Parent – and make it a great week!

God Bless You and your Family! Andrew Compton

Report on the Installation for Pastor Tanya Edwards on June 1, 2014

The Installation Service for Pastor Tanya Edwards was an exhilarating, inspiring, and uplifting service with 235 people in attendance, at the Manhattan Church at 4 West. 43rd. Street, New York.

Rev. Compton was the Master of Ceremonies for the service and did an outstanding job.

There was a beautiful bulletin made by Christina Kartel, the newly hired Administrative Assistant, which included Pastor Tanya’s Bio, which was quite impressive, with a picture. The program schedule was also included in the bulletin.

The Band led the congregation in joyful singing with the songs, “Grace of the Holy Garden,” “Higher Ground,” and “Oh Happy Day.” These were joyful songs that everyone enjoyed partaking in.

Mrs. Beryl Green from the WFWP, gave a very warm and touching prayer.

For the Congratulatory remarks, there was Mrs. Alexa Ward, International Vice President, who read the Bio followed with wonderful remarks. Next, was Marilyn Valdes, the Chair-person of the church counsel, who was very supportive on behalf of the church and the counsel. Dr. Jenkins read a scripture from the Bible and gave warm remarks with encouraging words. Bishop Jesse Edwards, her husband, gave heart to heart words that he was assured that his wife would do what God wanted her to do.

During the Installation Ceremony, Dr. Balcomb and Dr. Kim asked for all clergy and Pastor Tanys’s family members to come up front and lay hands on Pastor Tanya, while Dr. Balcomb gave a sincere, devoted prayer as Pastor Tanya takes her place as the new Pastor of the church.

There was a musical performance on the Viola offered by Jessica Garand.

When it was time for the Installation Address to be given by Pastor Tanya, she began by Thanking everyone for being there and for all the Leaders and their support and for Mother Moon and her vision. Pastor Tanya then said, “This is my day, so I would like to do something off the program.” She then asked for the children’s choir to come up and sing. They did a wonderful job. There were about 17 who came up to sing, and it was led by Nandi Bangai.

Pastor Tanya introduced each of her family members, which were 5 total of her mother, Rev. Faith Barnaby, her sister, Fonda Perez, her brother, Pastor Joel Barnaby, her nephew, Caleb Prince Barnaby, and her daughter, Ashley.

Pastor Tanya then asked for her husband, and those in her family who wanted, to come up as Pastor Tanya played the keyboard and the family sang two songs of worship.

She then gave her sermon on Solomon from I Kings 5:5. She talked how Solomon was the wisest man and built God’s Temple and how we now have our bodies as the Temple of God, to use it for God and not to destroy it or go against God. She ended with a beautiful prayer.

Flowers were then presented to Pastor Tanya Edwards

The Band and Rev. Compton returned and had the congregation bring their tithing and offerings up to the front to place into the baskets.

Announcements were made. A video of Dr. Balcom and Dr. Kim was shown about the Holy Ground Tour coming up. The video was so inspiring and informative.

The Band played and sang a closing song, “Happy.”

The Spirit was high and there was a feeling of love in the room. No one wanted to leave after the dismissal.

I am grateful for Mother Moon, who has had the confidence and the leading of the Spirit, to ask me to Pastor this great church in New York. I have already seen growth in numbers of membership and finances. I feel the support from so many members.

This was a beautiful day not only in the weather outside with the sun shinning so brightly, but the Spirit of God shinning so brightly in the service today. I feel encouraged, inspired and compelled to follow the leading of God for this church. I feel an urgency in the air to be fruitful, multiply, and have dominion, over the church and with the members.

I am thankful for the leadership of Dr. Kim, Dr. Balcomb, Dr. Jenkins, Rev. Compton, who has inspired me and helped me in so many areas, increasing my faith and knowledge in the Divine Principle and the Bible, in areas I have learned and grown in faith upon my study in so many areas.

I pray that God will lead, direct, and anoint me as I go forth for his Glory and True Parents.

Thank you, Pastor Tanya Edwards

Media Bias? Deciding to take a day off from his important job, a young hot-shot broker went back to visit some of his professors at his old school. Entering the school yard, he saw a dog attacking a small child. He quickly jumped on the dog and strangled it.

The next day, the local paper reported the story with the headline “Valiant Student Saves Boy From Fearsome Dog.”

The broker called the editor of the paper and strongly suggested that a correction be issued, pointing out that he was no longer a student, but a successful Wall Street broker.

The following day, the paper issued a correction, with a headline that read, “Pompous Stock Broker Kills School Mascot.”
