I am sure you have heard that the darkest place is under the lamp stand. I feel that we need to give a big THANK YOU! to these brothers and sisters.
They include Ian and Helen Alexander, Ken and Sang Moon Borneman, Raymundo and Chono Cobo, Jack and Hwa Ja La Valley, Hamako and Shigemi (in the spirit world) Miyake, William and Yujie Ortega, Mike and Nobuko Quinn, Katsuya and Cynthia Shibuya, Robert and Ann Smart, and Koji and Yiru Sugihara. Those who received the award representing WestRock were Athia Shibuya and David and Julia Okamoto.
Congratulations to you all! Thank you for your years of sacrifice – putting the public mission ahead of your personal needs.
As part of this week’s sermon on community – I encouraged everyone to make an intentional effort to connect with your small group, or, if you don’t belong to a small group, to invite one other member or couple to share a meal with you.
Along with that, I would like to invite everyone to focus some part of your weekly discussion with each other – on the sermon of the previous Sunday. To get this started, below are some readings and discussion questions for you. (This is not mandatory of course).
Topic: My Relationship with my Community Reading: “World Scripture and the Teachings of Sun Myung Moon” Pg 700 – 702, 1030-1032, 1033-1034
Where to find a Pdf file: http://www.tparents.org/Library/Unification/Books/World-S2.pdf
Discussion Points: 1) How do we benefit – when we care of others outside of our family? 2) It is not easy to create sense of unity even in a family – where the difference between each sibling can be enormous.
What are some of the biggest obstacles to creating a unified community of faith? How do you think we can deal with those obstacles? 3) How is mind and body unity connected – to realizing a unified community of faith?
One good aspect of this – is that any guest who may attend our Sunday service – would automatically feel comfortable to join in the discussion (since they also heard the sermon).
Finally, just to let you all know – I will be visiting my parents in California this coming week. I will be back on March 19. I will have my cell phone with me – so if there is an emergency, please call.
Let’s make it a great week God Bless You Andrew Compton
Sermon The sermon, given at Belvedere was given by Andrew Compton. It will be on line soon.
Light Thought for the Day:
Family Relationship I ran short of money while visiting my brother, and borrowed $50 from him.
After my return home, I wrote him a short letter every few weeks, enclosing a $5 check in each one. He called me up and told me how much he enjoyed the letters, regardless of the money; I had never written regularly before.
Eventually I sent off a letter and the last five-dollar check.
In my mail box the next week I found an envelope from my brother. Inside was another $50.
