News There are some great photos taken by Richard Patterson on our Facebook page . Quote for the www.facebook.com/westrockfamily Week . On another note - this past week I attended a conference (not far from Chicago) with Announcements Archbishop Ki Hoon Kim, Dr Michael Balcomb, members of the HQ team, and the other 11 District Pastors. We heard reports and a vision for our movement for the years leading up to 2020. (see attached guidance from True Mother). I won’t try to share everything in this memo, but I will say that in the final analysis – although we have many challenges before us, we are at a time when, as we apply ourselves, there is going to be incredible growth and development.
Here are a few of the themes that were expressed: Our American movement is going to be focused on the local pastors, their congregations, and a local council or ministry team. HQ will have an important role, but it will be primarily to support the work of the local communities. It is time for our younger leadership to be given responsibility. They need support and mentoring, but they are the ones who will take us into the future. Our most important responsibility now is to grow our movement. We are, after all essentially an evangelical movement. We believe that as the word of God is made known to the world, and as people begin to understand it and with that understanding begin to practice it in their lives – that their lives are going to be transformed and they will in turn transform the society and the culture of our nation and world. Therefore teaching the DP must be one of our primary activities. America must take the lead in the 20/20 project – too work with and help bring success in those nations that are essential to God’s providence. The spiritual world is important. We all need to do our best to fulfill True Parents direction to liberate our ancestors to the 210th generation. We, in America, need to take ownership of our house – and this includes the financial dimension. We cannot rely on donations from other countries. Members need to receive a deeper understanding of the importance of tithing.
Brothers and Sisters, I was inspired to hear some hopeful witnessing testimonies from around the nation. Step by step more guests are coming - and we are constantly improving our ability to make use of the internet as a witnessing/educational tool. Please do all you can to support the witnessing effort centered on your local pastor and community.
Finally – I have attached some notes, based on True Mother’s sharing recently in Las Vegas.
Thank you for your hard work. Let’s make this a great week! God Bless You Andrew Compton
The sermon this past Sunday at Belvedere, was given by Dr Michael Balcomb, you can listen to it at this link: soundcloud.com/pastor-andrew/sermon-dr-balcomb- belvedere
Light Thought for the Day:
At the Buffet As I was treating my daughter and her family to the buffet at a casino, all the bells and whistles for a winning slot machine began to go off. My seven-year-old grandson was awed.
“Wow!” he yelled. “This is like Chuck E. Cheese for old people.”
Testimonies/reports
We held a very inspiring outdoor service in the woods just south of Belvedere. About 200 members and several guests were in attendance. Dr Balcomb gave a wonderful sermon – “This is the Harvest Time” and we had incredible music from both 1st and 2nd gen musicians, as well as a poem by Andy Morris.
The recording of the sermon is available (see above link under Sermon)
If you have a testimony or report to share please send it to me.

Quote for the Week: This week a special treat – a poem by Lloyd Howell
The Wind in Your Sails
Father, I can see you as a young boy – pure as the wind-driven snow of northern Korea, even then there was an invisible force behind you and to it you dared to open your sails finding yourself doing strange things: inviting beggars home for dinner,
sharing the melons of your uncle’s field with the village boys, single-minded, nothing could stop you – certainly not fear of punishment, even then seeds of concern for others were taking root deep in your soul.
You would pass through many gauntlets; torture by Japanese occupiers, and the supreme test of communist death camp where while starving, in that university of suffering, you shared your handful of barley earning your doctorate in compassion. Buddha and Jesus approving you graduated to the sounds of bombs exploding, taking your ministry south, to a hut made from mud and discarded G.I. ration boxes you preached to a handful of believers.
And through all the storms you never let go the sails that would one day take you ‘round the globe to feed the world the Word of your Father’s Love.
