July 14, 2013 Era of the Victory, Liberation, and Completion of the True Parents of Heaven, Earth, and Humankind

Weekly Greeting Table of Contents . Weekly greeting Dear Brothers and Sisters and Testimonies . Sermon Notes Greetings! Is it hot enough for you? If you spend time outside, be sure to drink plenty of . Light Thought liquids. for the day . Testimony I am happy to announce that the new WestRock council held its first meeting. Chris . Providential Perkins was chosen to be the chairperson, Dominic Barber the vice-chair, and Ten-Seng News Guh the secretary/treasurer. . Quote for the As for the committees – Teng Seng will focus on the Finance Committee, Jim Stinard and Week Genie Kagawa on the Small Groups Committee, Tokiko Stewart will continue with the . Announcements Outreach Committee, Grace Selover with the Care Team Committee, and Dominic Barber will continue his work with the Sunday Service Committee, and he will be on the Pastors Evaluation and Search Committee.

I don’t know if you have heard, but Dr. Tom and Grace Selover are going to be moving to Korea. In addition Toby Gullery is going to be moving to Indiana where he will serve as pastor (congratulations Toby!). The Selovers and Toby have played a huge role in our community – and they will be much missed. They will be going sometime in August. Grace and Toby are both members of our council – and so we have begun a process to pick 2 additional council members. Following the direction within our charter – at least 4 names (we have 5 – they were taken from the last election – those who had the highest number of votes) will be offered by the council as candidates. From those 5 we will choose 2 by lottery.

Last week I sent out a survey – which is like a mini introduction. Myself and 3 Japanese sisters went out with it to meet people for a few hours and had a good experience. 11 people took it, were positive, and gave their contact information.

Based on the actual experience in the field I made a few improvements (the new version is attached to this email). I believe that by far the best way to meet people is through natural witnessing. But if you have a tough time talking to people and sharing with them about our faith, please take a look at the survey and give it a try. Actually not one person I spoke to today had heard of Rev Moon. In WestRock, if someone takes the survey and says that they would like to learn more and they give their contact information – we count them as having heard the introduction. Our goal in this 40 days of “Sharing the Blessing” is for 120 people to hear an introduction to our movement. Just 15 days left and we have 98 to go!

Finally – please take note that this week there will be a Parents Day program/banquet in NJ on July 20 (see announcements). And, in regards to the one year anniversary of True Father’s ascension, we are planning to have a memorial lunch program on Saturday August 24 at 43rd Street. I encourage everyone to also work with your local church leaders in planning a special Sunday Service on August 25.

Let’s make this a great week!

Light Thought for the Day:

Shirt Size? While I was working in the men’s section of a department store, a woman asked me to help her choose a white dress shirt for her husband.

When I asked about his size, the woman looked stumped at first, then her face brightened. She held up her hands, forming a circle with her forefingers and thumbs.

“I don’t know his size,” she said, “but my hands fit perfectly around his neck.”
