Era of the Victory, Liberation, and Completion of May 12, 2013 the True Parents of Heaven, Earth, and Humankind

Weekly Greeting Table of Contents Dear Brothers and Sisters, . Weekly greeting and Testimonies Greetings!

. Sermon Notes Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers – whether you have children, or love others as though they are your own, God Bless You All! I am reminded of the Jewish . Light Thought for saying – the reason God made mothers is – he couldn’t be everywhere at once. the day In WestRock Toby Gullery gave a wonderful sermon – he share (with tears) from . Testimony the perspective of a son, the differences between mothers and fathers, how amazing is the love of a mother, and maybe most powerful was his experience of receiving motherly love from many of the other mothers in our community. It’s a testimony of . Providential News our potential – if we practice what our True Parents have taught and shown us. . Quote for the This week I would like to speak briefly about mentoring and small groups. How are Week people who join our community going to be able to sustain their commitment? We have observed that everyone, although initially inspired, always goes through a . Announcements down period, a test of their faith and commitment. Many of us who joined years back got through that first test because we were being cared for 24/7. But now we don’t have that kind of constant care – and several who have joined in recent times – have also left. To remedy this situation we need to work together – and care for new members as a team (a small group) – and each person should ideally have 2 or 3 assigned members to mentor them. To mentor is not a life time commitment to a person. It just requires 1 phone call a week and a face to face meeting once a month. Most often it’s about being there to listen to them.

Please consider becoming a mentor. Through it you will surely come closer to God. Even now, 3 new members just joined in Manhattan – who need mentors. And please consider your participation in a small group. A good step would be to attend the Small Group Seminar coming up on Saturday, June 1 at Belvedere.

(If you would be interested in helping to mentor one of our new Manhattan members – send me an email)

God Bless You! And let’s make it a great day!

Light Thought for the Day

Fishing with Mom I took my mother on a fishing excursion yesterday. Nobody was having any luck. After drifting for hours without so much as a nibble, who should hook into one but my Mom. Everyone on the boat was excited, cheering the old woman on and telling her to take her time.

Finally she lifted the fish into the boat, picked it up, removed the hook, looked at it up and down, and then tossed it back into the water.

I was stunned. I said, “Mom, why did you throw that fish back into the water?”

“I don’t know. To me it just didn’t look fresh.”

How Mothers Were Created

When the Good Lord was creating mothers He was into His 6th day of “overtime” when the angel appeared and said, “You’re doing a lot of fiddling around on this one.”

And the Lord said, “Have you read the specification on this order?”

“She has to be completely washable but not plastic;”

“Have 180 movable parts . . . all replaceable;”

“Run on black coffee and leftovers;”

“Have a lap the disappears when she stands up;”

“A kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a broken heart;”

“And 6 pairs of hands.”

The angel shook her head slowly and said, “6 pairs of hands…no way.”

“It’s not the hands that are causing me the problems,” said the Lord, “It’s the three pairs of eyes that Mothers have to have.”

“That’s in the standard model?” asked the angel.

The Lord nodded. “One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks ‘What are you kids doing in there?’ when she already knows. Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn’t but what she has to know, and of course the ones here in front so that she can look at a child when he goofs and say, ‘I understand and I love you’ without so much as uttering a word.”

“Lord,” said the angel touching his sleeve gently, “come to bed. Tomorrow …”

“I can’t,” said the Lord, “I’m so close to creating something so close to myself. Already I have one that heals herself when she is sick … can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger … and can get a 9 yr. old to stand under a shower.”

The angel circled the model of a Mother very slowly. “It’s too soft,” he sighed.

“But tough!” said the Lord excitedly. “You cannot imagine what this Mother can do or endure.”

“Can it think?”

“Not only think, but it can reason and compromise,” said the Creator.

Finally, the angel bent over and ran a finger across the cheek. “There’s a leak,” she pronounced. “I said you were trying to put too much into this model.”

“It’s not a leak,” said the Lord. “It’s a tear.”

“What’s it for?”

“It’s for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness, and pride.”

Quote for the Week

Proverbs 31:25-30 ESV Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” …
