I feel that we pass through many of these historic days, not being able to fully appreciate their significance. If we are honest with ourselves – we know that we are unworthy to be called Blessed Central Families, and yet, through the Holy Wine and the grace of our Heavenly Parent and True Parents, we stand forgiven, loved, and renewed.

The early disciples of Jesus, even though they had failed, believed that they were forgiven and with that strength of belief they were able to proclaim the good news and God was able to transform the world.

The other day, as I was doing some shopping, buying table cloths at the “Dollar Store” for one of our events, I was looking at the people around me – who were totally unaware of even the existence of True Parents – reflecting about my new position as pastor of the NY District. According to my title, I am supposed to be closer to God than all the people of this state of NY. God wants to look at me and my wife Lydia, as the representative of True Parents – the central figures of human history who took on the task of paying the necessary price, the conditions of indemnity for the sins of humanity, and who established God’s lineage on this earth.

Now, I know that I am in no way worthy of such a position – and yet, if I don’t have faith that I am in such a position – how can God work? If I don’t trust in the fact that we have been forgiven of the Original Sin, that we see humanity with the eyes of our True Parents – as no one has ever viewed humanity, then True Parents sacrifice will have been in vain.

All Blessed Couples are blessed by God. We are blessed, and we must have conviction in that Blessing – because through us God intends to share that blessing with others. And all of us are forgiven and will be blessed anew on Foundation Day – because through us, from that day on, God, our Heavenly Parent, will establish the Ideal of Creation, the Heavenly Family/Kingdom, on this earth and in heaven.

So, let’s make it a great year for our Heavenly Parent and our True Parents! Let’s believe and let’s act on our belief!

Light Thoughts for the Day

Eggs Mom announced to her family, “Tomorrow morning I’m going to make an old- fashioned breakfast with eggs, ham, biscuits and grits.”

The five-year-old daughter groaned, “But, Mommy, you know I don’t like eggs.”

Mom then reminded her of all the food the little girl liked that contained eggs.

The next morning, when the daughter walked into the kitchen, Mom said, “Since you are here first, you can decide for the family. How do you want me to cook the eggs?”

The little girl answered, “In chocolate cake, please.”

Three short testimonies from Long Island Jan 29-2013

Recently I have been blessed here in Long Island by the fact within the last two months heaven has sent three people in my direction who are interested in our movement and interested in studying the Principle.

The first is a man who I had observed for many years passing our local church as he made his way home from work. On numerous occasions when I was cutting the lawn in front of the church I would see him pass by. I could tell he worked in the construction business as he would return home in his work clothes. We often acknowledged each other with a nod or a hi but never engaged in conversation he seemed to be a person who wanted to keep to himself. This is how I knew him for at least 5 to 6 years. Then one day last November I was at a local gas station getting a cup of tea and I discovered he was standing beside me I heard him speak and realized he had an Irish accent, immediately I asked if he was from Ireland, he replied yes, then he said and you, and I replied that I was also from Ireland. Then he asked me from which County and it turns out I am from the same County and after a short conversation I discovered he knew some of my cousins in our home county. To keep a long story short I will just say since then we have had six meetings and he has come and studied three complete lectures on the Principle and is absorbing it very well so far. Please keep him in your prayers his name is Mike Flannery.

The second is woman from the Philippines, during the past three years my wife Masako worked as a home health aide and for one and a half of those years she took care of one person this lady who originally comes from the Philippines. In many ways my wife became more like a companion to this woman rather than an employee and they got to know each other very well. As a result she wanted to know everything about Masako’s life and in explaining about her life she shared about her faith because of this Masako was able to share True Fathers autobiography, however it was difficult to go beyond this because of work practice rules. When my wife Masako passed away this past November her patient determined to attend Masako’s Seonghwa she came together with her sister and daughter. After the Seonghwa she asked if she could come to visit our church as Masako had often invited her. Since then each week she calls me inquiring about Emiko and is

always preparing some gift of food or snacks. Each time I visit her I give her some of Fathers words to read or a DVD to watch eventually I want to introduce her to our Philippine community. Her name is Mrs. De La Cruz.

The third is a person who contacted us as a result of our cable broadcast. A few weeks ago I got a call from him just after he had watched the Fall of Man presented by Rev Philip Schanker. He was so excited he could not stop talking for almost half an hour. He said the content just blew him away that it had answered so many questions he had. He is 52 years old and has gone through many difficulties in his life and this lecture had answered so many questions. I then told him that this was just one of fifteen and that he should study all of the lectures. Immediately he said he wanted to get the whole series, one week later I met him and delivered the whole series, he is now in the process of studying and I am talking with him each week. He lives about 45 miles away from the church center. His name is David Kelly. The Principle still has this enormous power to touch peoples original nature.

I am looking forward to who heaven may send me next. One small tip about sharing a DVD lecture in your home if you do have a big screen TV then it feels as if the lecturer is right there in the room with you and you can keep the remote in your hand and stop and discuss at any time it works very well. Outreach  True Father’s Autobiography- please continue to do your best to distribute True Father’s Autobiography  OSDP/Bible Study – at the White House, the next study will be tomorrow, Monday, Jan. 28

Community  Foundation Day Registration: All members need to register for Foundation Day – on line, http://foundationday.unification.org/ If you need help, please contact Toby Gullery or Rev Compton. We will connect you with someone who can help you.

 Foundation Day Blessing: will take place in Albany, UTS (Barrytown), and in Tarrytown at the Double Tree Hotel (455 S Broadway, Tarrytown NY).

o We are expecting the transmission from Korea to begin at 8 pm. We will start our pre-

program at 7:00 pm.

o When you arrive - you will need to first go to the registration table to get your name checked off on our list of registered members. If you did not register – we will have forms you can fill out.

o We are asking each person (attending in Tarrytown) to offer a donation of $10 per person (or $50 per family) to help cover the cost of the hotel.

o Dress code: Woman in white. Men in dark suites with red tie. Children dressed as nicely as possible (girls in light colored dress, boys in dark pants and white shirt)

o Buses will be coming up from the city (for more information contact pastor Andrew Love)

 If you miss the Foundation Day Event – we are planning to show the event a second time the following Sunday after church service – at Belvedere and at 43rd Street.

 Prayer Continues for Jiau-Lan Weinstein, she is still fighting to overcome cancer.

Please pray for Laura Nabetani – she is fighting a number of ailments – beginning with her heart and lungs - and her health has not been improving.
