As the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (the Unification Church) prepared for the 4th anniversary of the founder Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s ascension, they announced on August 8 that they will prepare various events including the “Peace Road 2016: Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula and Realization of the DMZ World Peace Park” and the “International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP).”

Rev. Kyeung-Seuk Lu (photo), the Chairman of FFWPU-Korea said on this day, “It was a period of mourning until the 3rd anniversary, but beginning from the 4th anniversary, we will have a festive atmosphere.” He said, “We will hold the commemorative ceremony at the Cheong Shim Peace World Center in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi province on the 19th with the theme, ‘Sublimating our filial piety and love for heaven into beacons of the world.’” Rev. Lu continued, “We are planning to create an organization that can focus the activities to the problems of conflict, refugees, terror, religion, etc., by founding the ‘International Parliamentarians for Peace Association’ where parliamentary representatives from all countries in the world will take on central roles.

At the “DMZ Peace Road” event, over 200 youths rode bicycles around the Demilitarized Zone area to express their longing for the peace in the Korean Peninsula. They will also hold an event where 1,000 young people walk along the DMZ area to pray for the reunification of North and South Korea…

“Until last year, the atmosphere of sorrowful mourning was strong, but starting from the 4th anniversary, there will be more atmosphere of festivities. Diverse cultural performances that represent the continents and nations of the world will unfold.”

The 4th Memorial of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the founder of Family Federation for World Peace (FFWPU) will be held on August 19 at Cheong Shim Peace World Center at Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province. Before this event, which anticipates the attendance of more than 30,000 key personnel from

both Korea and abroad to attend, Rev. Kyeung-Seuk Lu, FFWPU-Korea president (photo), had a press conference on the 8th and said, “The FFWPU does not believe in physical resurrection.” He emphasized, “Death is never a sorrowful or a grief-stricken event because it is when your spirit can return to the eternal original homeland of God. This event, which is held with the theme, ‘Sublimating our filial piety and love for heaven into beacons of the world,’ shows the will to spread Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon’s ideology of filial piety toward Heaven (God) to the whole of humanity.”

Rev. Sun Myung Moon, who founded the Unification Church (FFWPU) on 1954, was honored in a Seonghwa Ceremony after his ascension on September 3, 2012. The FFWPU currently has missionary countries in 194 nations, with around 30,000 members in Korea and over 3 million members overseas. From the latter half of the year, they are planning to found the “International Parliamentarians for Peace Association,” which will help move the parliamentary elements in all nations.

The European founding rally will be held in London at the beginning of next month, and the South American rally will be held on October.

Rev. Kyeung-Seuk Lu, a 2nd Generation member of FFWPU who became chairman of FFWPU-Korea three years ago said, “Terrorism is occurring in various places throughout the world. We are planning to spread awareness on the dangers of terrorism and to attempt to create world peace by expanding the Parliamentarians for Peace Association in Korea and throughout the world. The FFWPU, which also produced many multicultural families through the massive joint weddings, will open the multicultural peace festival, where around 10,000 citizens are expected to attend, at the Yeouido Park Culture Square in Seoul at 10 am on the 10th of next month…
