The President of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, Dr. Hak Ja Han, has set forth to support the victims of the Kumamoto earthquake in Japan. In order to aid the victims of the two consecutive earthquakes that occurred on the 14th and the 16th, Dr. Han donated 40 million yen (approximately 400,000,000 won) to the Japanese Red Cross (President Konoe Tadateru), and 10 million yen (approximately 100,000,000 won) to the Family Federation members in the Kumamoto area, contributing a total sum of 50 million yen (approximately 500,000,000 won).

On behalf of Dr. Han, Japanese President of the Family Federation, Eiji Tokuno, visited the Japanese Red Cross in Minato, Tokyo, and delivered a contribution of 40 million yen to the head of the Volunteer Activity Department, Takashi Gudo, at the Partnership Headquarters, on the 20th.

At the event, President Tokuno said, “Dr. Hak Ja Han has been worrying about the victims of the Kumamoto earthquake in Japan, and has donated to support them,” and promised, “The Family Federation plans on recruiting volunteers to dispatch to Kumamoto with the Peace Corps of the Family Federation, called UPeace, as well as a medical team.”

Gudo, the head of the Japanese Red Cross, expressed his gratitude by saying, “We shall use the whole amount of the donation for the victims.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Han has also contributed one million U.S. dollars as an emergency relief donation for the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that occurred on the 25th of April in Nepal, where over 8,400 people perished, and sent Family Federation Peace Corps volunteers to provide aid. In addition, for the South Pacific island country of Vanuatu, which was hit by super cyclone Pam, a contribution of 200,000 U.S. dollars

At the time of the eastern Japan earthquakes, UPeace sent 2,250 volunteers centered on believers, proceeding with 124 volunteer activities in 726 locations…
