[Yonhap News] FFWPU Holds Holy Birthday Celebration for Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon
(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Sang-Hyun Park= Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (Unification Church, hereafter referred to as “FFWPU”) held commemorative events for the Holy Birthday of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon on the morning of the 13th at the Cheong Shim Peace World Center in Gapyeong,Gyeonggi-do.
The FFWPU celebrates the birthdays of the founders each year on January 6 (according to the lunar calendar) with events that highlight their life and works.
About 30,000 people, including 180 current National Assembly members from 50 nations, attended the event, which began with an opening prayer by FFWPU Korea President Kyeung-Seuk Ryu, followed by a cake cutting, a welcoming address by FFWPU World President Sun Jin Moon, congratulatory remarks by Hon. Jose de Venecia Jr., and concluded with a celebratory song by the FFWPU choir.
FWPU World President Sun Jin Moon expressed in her address, “Despite 93 years of religious persecution, Rev. Sun Myung Moon witnessed to and united millions of people. Rev. Moon and Dr. Han have carried all of the world’s children on their backs and guided them towards families of peace and love.”
The Hon. Jose de Venecia, Jr. pointed out that “North Korea is becoming increasingly provocative. The National Assembly members attending today’s event will discuss realistic and detailed solutions to this problem surrounding North Korea at the International Leadership Conference.”
The latter part of the ceremony consisted of a musical entitled, “Butterfly,” which depicted the missionary activities of the FFWPU in Eastern Europe from 1970 to 1980.
