Korean Smart Patrol Cars sold to Peru

Korean Smart Patrol Cars are to take care of public order in Peru.

KOTRA and Daewoo International revealed on the 30th that a government-to-government export contract about supplying 2,108 smart patrol cars (worth 90 million dollars) had been signed with the Ministry of Home Affairs of Peru, on the 29th (local time) in Lima, Peru.

The vehicles to be supplied are SSangYong Motor Rextons with engine displacements of 3,200 cc, and are to be utilized in 17 cities all over the country by the National Police Agency of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Peru.

Rextons are consistently being delivered to the Korean National Police Agency, government offices and to the military police of US Armed Forces in Korea; its durability and safety being well acknowledged. It was explained that KOTRA is suitable to drive in Peru, where there are many mountainous areas.

KOTRA and Daewoo International previously exported 800 domestic smart patrol cars in 2012. Last September, the government of Peru requested for an additional supply, and thus this contract was signed.

Daewoo International, as the main contractor of this project, is responsible for the overall supply of the vehicles. For the development of the vehicles for export, Information Communication Technology and software company Entoss Information Communication, as well as specialized vehicle company Shinjeong Development, participated, receiving an evaluation where major and small businesses expanded at the same time.
