Sun Jin Moon Appointed as FFWPU International President

The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification held International President Sun Jin Moon’s inauguration ceremony at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 13th, in the chapel of the Cheon Jung Goong Museum in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do. The event was held before a crowd of 800 people from 60 different countries, including Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon and UPF International President Dr. Thomas Walsh. “Let us establish a community alive with the ideals of true love, and work tirelessly to create that community throughout the world,” said President Moon. “In my time as world president, I plan to expand the foundation of our unification movement throughout the whole world,” she continued, outlining her plan for the Family Federation.

The inauguration ceremony was hosted by Family Federation International Headquarters Director- General Man-Ho Kim. The ceremony began with opening announcements, followed by the Cheon Il Guk anthem, a report to Heaven by Family Federation Korean President Kyeung-Seuk Lu, Hoondok reading by Won-Ju McDevitt, congratulatory address by The Cheon Il Guk National Assembly Chairman Young- Whi Kim and Korean Council on Foreign Relations Chairman Tae-Ik Jeong, a video speech, the offering of flowers, Sun Jin Moon’s inaugural address and three cheers of Eok Mansei led by FFWPU North America Regional President Ki-Hoon Kim.

Mrs. Sun Jin Moon was appointed as International President by Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon on March 6th. She was born to the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Han in 1976 as their 5th daughter out of seven sons and seven daughters. “We cannot afford to delay any longer. With our current methods, we will be unable to complete ‘Vision 2020.’ As the saying, ‘a servant is only as honest as his master,’ so let us as leaders newly reflect on our hearts and become the true olive trees in the tradition of our True Parents, in order to create a world of eternal peace. In order to maintain this new system, I have appointed Sun Jin Moon as the International President and her husband In Sup Park as the International Vice President. Let us become arrowheads of this massive mission and do our utmost to create a world of peace.”

After clarifying the meaning of reorganization, Head of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification Hak Ja Han Moon held International President Sun Jin Moon’s inauguration ceremony on the morning of the 13th at the Cheon Jung Goong Museum in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do.

The event was attended by about 800 people from about 60 countries, including Dr. Han, Heavenly Council President Young-Hwi Kim, Universal Peace Federation World President Dr. Thomas Walsh, Family Federation Korean President Kyeung-Seuk Ryu, Tongil Foundation Chairman Yun-Ki Choi, Korean Council on Foreign Relations President Tae-Ik Jung, the Cheon Il Guk Supreme Council members, Special Emissary, Continental Directors and about 100 African members.

Sun Jin Moon was born to the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Han in 1976 as their 5th daughter out of seven sons and seven daughters. She graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Psychology.

“On the 6th, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon appointed me as the Family Federation World President. She did not come to this decision easily. She was especially cautious as the position is that of the International President. She did not make this decision with any personal feelings, seeing as I am her daughter. Dr. Han has lived her entire life together with God in the high noon settlement. God’s providential will is to see the salvation of fallen humankind. As the International President, I will attend Dr. Han as my center and do my utmost to fulfill God’s will while encouraging and supporting all of you in the fulfillment of your duties. Ladies and gentlemen, you are my seniors, my teachers and my brothers and sisters. Let us all work together to fulfill ‘One Family under God.’ Let us reform and revive our community, establish a community alive with the ideal of true love, and work tirelessly to create that community throughout the world. In my time as International President, I plan to expand the foundation of our Unification Movement throughout the whole world. Let me now outline the goals of this cosmic mission that we will work towards together,” said International President Sun Jin Moon.

She outlined seven major goals.

Let us absolutely center ourselves upon the Unification Movement of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. True Parents are the root; without the root, life cannot exist. There is one true love, true life and true lineage. They are the central roots of our movement, without which the branches cannot grow. If we live in service for the sake of others, the root and trunk can grow stronger and the stems and branches of our world movement can be expanded.

Let us complete our missions as tribal messiahs. We shall share our vision with everyone we meet.

Let us never forget our portions of responsibility. We must return to the roots of our faith.

Let us protect the central tradition of daily Hoondok. Through the essential teachings of True Parents contained in the Cheon Sung Gyeong, the Pyeong Hwa Gyeong and the Cham Bu Mo Gyeong, let us connect to the root and center of our faith. The words of True Parents are the water of life.

Let us love and care for our environment. Nature is our home and garden. We must respect all living things and nature as though we were attending God.

We must nurture our character and heart. We must become the sons and daughters of true love and true happiness. The teaching of “forgive, love and unite” forms the basis of the unification of the individual, family, tribe, nation and world, and is the center of salvation. Let us live lives of genuine love based on the spirit of unification and live for the sake of others with a heart of sympathy.

We must deeply nurture our faith. We have the power to change the world we live in. In order to fulfill this dream, we must all pledge our dedication and effort.
