Sex-trafficking and Internet Porn To Be Addressed at Pastors’ Forum

Indiana’s Deputy Attorney General Abigail Kuzma will urge ministers and activists to spread the word about the dangers of human sex-trafficking at a pastors’ forum in Indianapolis on Thursday, December 8, 2011. The day-long conference, titled Stopping the Porn Culture, will be held at the Lovin’ Life Education Center, 404 E. 38th Street, between New Jersey and Central, from 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
“Prostitution is not a victimless crime,” Deputy Attorney General Kuzma says, adding: “Many children, both U.S. citizen and immigrant, are used in commercial sex. In fact, 12 to 14 is the average age entry into this horrific life. As a former attorney for immigrant victims of human trafficking, I know first-hand that many of these vulnerable individuals are physically forced, coerced, raped or beaten by their traffickers. Our goals on the state level include holding these criminals accountable, mobilizing communities to care for victims and raising public awareness while reducing the demand for commercial sex that fuels human trafficking. It’s also important for local community groups – especially those in Indianapolis – to show their support for anti-human trafficking efforts and help spread awareness about these types of crimes in their neighborhoods.”
Pastors also will hear from Sergeant Jon A. Daggy, a human-trafficking specialist with the Indianapolis Police Department, investigators for the department’s Cybersex Unit, and from Bishop Damon S. Roach of First Christian Missionary Baptist Church. The conferees also will hear about what pastors and parents can do to protect their children from pimps, internet porn, and agents of the sex industry. “Sex-trafficking is an issue the church can and must address: if not now, when? And if not you, who? We are calling for an interdenominational gathering of concerned clergy in the city,” Bishop Roach wrote in a statement.
Presentations will include a video message on sex-trafficking from Rev. In Jin Moon, founder of Lovin’ Life Ministries, an explanation of modern-day illicit sex from a biblical perspective, the Garden-of-Eden story, and how American society has been “Pornified” – both talks by abstinence educator Bruce Smith. Mr. Smith is also a lay minister with Lovin’ Life Ministries in Indiana, and the organizer of the event.
“As we enter the Christmas season, my heart goes out to the young men and women who are trapped by porn addiction, trapped into a life of addiction to drugs, or to alcohol and the so-called ‘Life’ of
prostitution,” Mr. Smith tells Familyfed.org. “America is like the Titanic on the ocean. The ocean is the abyss of moral decay and corruption. The hole in the boat is pornography, prostitution, and sex trafficking. Everyone who is making money from those businesses are creating a bigger hole. Society is not aware of how fast the boat is sinking and how large the hole really is because the primary goal is only to be on the upper decks of higher living. And those of society who are aware of problem are few in number. We need to look at where and what is causing our society to crumble. It is not an economic problem, it is a moral and spiritual one. Let’s work together with those who see the hole in the boat.”

Abstinence Educator Bruce E. Smith
Honored and Respected Religious Leader
I would like to formally introduce myself. My name is Bruce E. Smith and I’m a lay minister in Indianapolis with the Unification Church’s Lovin’ Life Ministries.
Have you heard this from your Congregants, “ Sex with anyone, anytime, under any circumstances, and in any way is good and has no negative consequences.” “Marriage is an obstacle to sexual fulfillment.” “Women have only one purpose-to satisfy the sexual needs of men.” “Men and women are slaves to their sexual urges.”
This is the message that our youth hear each day and repeat it verbatim. As an abstinence educator and lay minister, I hear this from youth and adults. It is a constant reminder for us to be diligent. Pray ceaselessly for them and surround them with a healthy environment.
