Serendipity - Unplanned Fortune

The root of the word lies in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) through Persian.

The word means unplanned fortune.

Spirituality, though little promoted in our movement, was regularly promoted by Father. In the late 70s I heard him require that each center have 3 spiritual people. Later he said each center should have one. The number went down, I believe, because there were now many centers. The intent was that changes in SW had to be considered in our life.

Let me start with my earliest recollection. I was ending a night out with high school friends. We were laughing at a comment one person made, and from spirit world a voice said to me ‘But you are different’. I heard it. No one else did. It was never repeated & it was never explained. It was something I’ve had to, and still do, figure out on my own. Like a flower that buds and slowly blossoms, so did my spirituality & relationship with spirit world.

My life has been full of fortuitous discoveries. I must start by saying that a free mind is all important. Reliance on others to tell or guide won’t permit this fortune. Principle states that a person can have but 1 Central Figure. This will be interpreted on many levels.

In the 70s Father said that those who come to the movement with a calling, were to follow their calling. Those who didn’t, were to follow their Central Figures.

It’s all important that Heavenly Parent be able to uninterruptedly be able to contact us, a bit like not being on the phone when He calls.

My experiences are connected to being spiritually open, on some instances having remote viewing type of revelations / inspirations.

I have seen that we are to ask for things until spirit world ‘hears’ or ‘receives’ the request, then finish. Stop asking. Think of it like a child pestering for a toy until the parent says OK. At that moment you also tell the child to stop asking. Think that in great part, the being we are praying to, is God but through our family, ancestors. They carry out the requests because they know us best; they’re God’s body. As we all connect to Heavenly Parent, we’re on the same channel, so to speak.

I became interested in ancient history in relation to the Bible, from which True Parents took the Principles most relevant to mankind’s restoration. I began to learn that the Bible was not about historic facts.

As I studied ancient Mesopotamian history, legends, myths, etc, I soon found that I wasn’t far off. A key piece to the puzzle was reading that Father mentioned that biblical Adam & Eve had Middle Eastern roots but that Heavenly Parent started His Providence of restoration many many ‘oku’ years ago.

This above experience came from serendipity. I did not have a closed mind to what I was learning. I found True Parents without searching. It was a lucky find indeed, it was the second time spirit world tried. I met my first would-be spiritual parent a few years before I met my present one, but circumstances didn’t lead to her introducing me to TP/DP.

Upon hearing the Principle there were some cracks in my faith that later would lead me to deep differences in understanding, all related to truth vs restoration Principles. I believe Father on purpose left them open. In a speech he said there are things he never taught nor are in the Principle, and that we were to study & investigate and learn them.

An early serendipity experience was when a sister, recently blessed, told me that we could now communicate directly with God. This was a first break from my old Catholic education, not that it was deep or thorough.

My question was what God was going to do with all the angels? Literally I asked myself rhetorically ‘send them to pasture?’ I answered myself ‘that’s not God’s way’. I remembered learning that angels were there to intervene between God & fallen humans, and to sing praises 24/7. I thought it to be boring for God.

I left the matter alone, put it aside. I didn’t think much about it for several decades. The Internet was instrumental in getting me back onto the topic.

Interest in ancient Middle East culture was growing in me, especially after reading that Heavenly Father has been suffering more than the 6000 biblical years, something I had been suspecting for a while. This hit home when I heard of cultures predating the biblical Adam & Eve. Something did not mesh.

Things got very confusing, but interesting, like a thriller.

Here, among the many cross references was Zoroaster, the initiator of the angel image. The angel along with the gods, Greek, Roman, Germanic, Viking.

What brought me to another point of interest was that Abraham, we were taught, was blessed by God for worshipping Him and Him only, and now the Israelites were also adoring angels, an abomination in God’s eyes. This all happened during the Babylon captivity.

Doors were opening without my asking, but because I followed my curiosity. Spirit world was pushing.

A thought. Father said he wouldn’t directly give us answers, as Jesus promised he would upon his return. Father instead lead us to the answer, where we were to take that last step. The reasoning was that we would have to pay additional indemnity if he told us. He told us not to be lazy & do our own studying. Father told us many things in cryptic ways, even irritating me until, at times decades later, I understood Father’s message.

Another struggle was hearing Jesus was physically crucified. Even the lecturer echoed this as his personal disbelief. I lived with that for decades, until Father said Jesus’s spirit took the position of offering. He also said that Italy would always be a providential nation.

On another occasion Father, in full attack mode said, and I paraphrase, Jesus should have gone to Rome, built an army then gone to Jerusalem & destroy it. I was quite shocked at Father’s words. He always talked as Jesus being his elder brother, mentor, best friend, etc. Suddenly he was being very hard on Jesus, and Jesus wasn’t there to defend himself. I, again, lived with that for decades, then one day I understood - late as always - Father’s way of teaching us was not the way we expect. ‘Should have’ was a way of making us pay the indemnity for Father telling us secrets. I understood

that he was telling us that this is what Jesus did. I was so happy when I learnt Father’s little teaching secrets.

An event that had a big impact on me was Father’s asking The News World editors to publish a weekly supplement, ‘UFOs and Other Cosmic Phenomena’. Most editors were less than thrilled, complaining that the News World ‘was tying to be a serious newspaper’. A few of us were happy, though.

This was another example of Father pulling the rug from under our feet. It also opened doors to closed or limited thinking. It was another example of Jesus coming back & telling us the truth. We thought the Divine Principle was it. The Divine Principle is a book teaching us Principle through which we will be judged as we enter spirit world. There’s much to learn along side the Principle. Taking ownership requires much education, knowledge.

More recently True Mother spoke of spirit world having a device which can communicate with us in the physical world. For many decades our people in W.R.I.S.T. are trying to complement the device they have already in place in spirit world.

One more door that had opened with the advent of the Internet and that has changed my perspective on us & True Parents was in a reading of Father’s speeches when he said that Adam & Eve were the first messiahs. That totally opened many more doors.

People become defensive when such radically different or new ideas are expressed by Father / True Parents. They immediately believe it’s a mistranslation or that something is wrong. They aren’t ready for what Father digs out from deep inside his mind.

Father’s words have opened all doors to what till now we have considered myth, non truths, etc. In some accounts we, God’s children, have been on this planet earth for nearly half a million years. Evidence exists that we have annihilated ourselves before, possibly more than once. Some highly developed science that we have today such as law, mathematics, acupuncture, herbal medicine, Chinese characters, and more have been given to us from ancestors we have yet to discover. Evidence exists we might have used nuclear weapons, too. We have inherited match knowledge directly, and spirit world is now helping us to learn more. Myths from yesteryear may not be tales, but also knowledge we must decipher. If we think of how different western and eastern cultures are, we can imagine that came aeons ago.

Calling them the True Parents of humankind has a deep meaning, far more than we imagine. That makes it necessary to understand who we are, how far back our ‘6000 years’ really go. Heaven has been suffering, waiting for True Parents that much longer than we have been praying about.

I’ve been wanting to write some of these stories for a long time. I’ve learnt to put my heart in a mode God can use. There’s much more to come. Put your hearts in your hands & offer them up to our Heavenly Parents. Heavenly Father wants to talk to you. So much needs to be done. Father said it’ll take tens of thousands of years for restoration to be completed. Remember True Parents were The True Parents of Heaven, Earth & Humankind & the Cosmos.
