Jin Choon Kim: The Lord of the Second Advent should absolutely Fulfill God's Will in His Generation - Part 1

For the European Leaders’ Meeting 2012 the president of Cheong Shim Graduate School of Theology, Dr. Jin Choon Kim was invited to address those who had come from all over Europe for the sake of a deeper appreciation of the Value of True Parents (vimeo.com/37793383) and a better understanding of “The Vision for the World after Foundation Day” — (vimeo.com/37424913)

At the beginning of his second lecture Dr. Jin Choon Kim pointed to the fact that already 615 original books with Father’s speeches have been published and he emphasized that we need a theory of interpreting Father’s words: “In Christian teaching we have hermeneutics. [A method or principle of interpretation. The inspiration for the name Hermeneutics was taken from Hermes, the messenger of the gods.] We really need a theory of interpreting Father’s words. Unification hermeneutics.” Even though the concern for having the right understanding of Father’s words is valid, there exists the real danger that just as Christians interpreted the words of Jesus in the wrong way, the theologians of our church due to their own limited understanding of Father’s words, may come up with theories which may not necessarily correspond to God’s point of view.

Dr. Jin Choon Kim rightly pointed out that we must be very careful how we interpret Father’s huge amount of speeches due to their variety, the audience and the providential situation. We must always think of the whole, of all aspects before we come to conclusions. This work must really be done within an open forum, not by a tiny minority of Unification scholars who teach the members of our movement their theory, based on how they interpret Father’s speeches, but all voices need to be heard, especially those rooted in a deep prayer life and not necessarily in having read thousands of speeches.

Father said that even though he receives many revelations from God, he does not explain everything at one time but according to the progress of providence. Now that he is in spirit world it is more than ever our responsibility to deepen our insight into God’s Will in order to have a very clear understanding of God’s desire for us at this time and in the future.

Dr. Jin Choon Kim stressed in his lecture that Foundation Day is the starting point of Cheon Il Guk, not the completion. It is the beginning or origin and therefore we really need life for a substantial Cheon Il Guk: “Always we must think about, ‘What is the substantial CIG what is the meaning of the substance?’”

Concerning the meaning of Cheon Il Guk the lecturer noted that every being is created in a pair system and should be united into one. That is the definition of Cheon Il Guk. And he spoke about the problem of disunity on all levels, the reality of our life where we have the problem of my mind versus my speech, speech versus behavior, beginning versus end, etc. which needs to be overcome. He encouraged everybody to get some vision or inspiration from the ideal perspective of the realization of God’s Kingdom in all countries. The president of our Graduate School of Theology mentioned that Hyung Jin Nim asked him to prepare some discussion to testify to God’s existence to our 2nd Gen. and even to our members because many do not believe in God. “This is the reality of Blessed Families…”

He spoke about the need for a foundation for the Messiah who has the key to solve all problems and to restore the whole world, which was laid in Korea during the 40 year period from 1905 to 1945 as a Foundation of Faith for receiving the Messiah. And from 1945 Father really expected to have a substantial course. In Korea prepared groups were waiting for the Lord of the Second Advent but in reality Father did not get support from those groups and eventually Father went to North Korea, but the original plan was a 7-year course. “So the basic course is 40 years Foundation of Faith and 7 years Foundation of Substance, receiving the Messiah worldwide, from the family level, national level and cosmic level.”

Dr. Kim emphasized: “There are so many speeches on this basic formula. To write a research paper I quoted more than 2000 quotations from Father’s speech volumes, from the huge amount of explanations about this basic formula. I could see how much important that original 7 year course from 1945 to 1952 is… We should have had Cheon Il Guk since 1952 according to Father’s speech. But it was delayed and delayed and delayed. This basic formula is very important to understand the present time and even after Foundation Day. Because of the failure of the original course the 40 years Foundation of Faith was attacked by Satan. We lost that foundation. Therefore we needed to lay again the 40 years Foundation of Faith from 1945 to 1985. Until Father’s Danbury prison life.

From 1985 to 1992 Father completed the Foundation for receiving the Messiah. 1992 Father proclaimed to the Korean society and worldwide leaders, ‘We are the Messiah and Savior and also the Lord of Second Advent and True Parents.’ But that is not the goal of the original course. And Father could start Completed Testament Age and True Parents age from 1993 until 2000. Through two times 7 years course Father could restore original 7 year course and on that base Father could start in 2001 the original plan of God’s sovereignty and Cheon Il Guk. So from 2001 we have 12 year course.”

At that point Dr. Jin Choon Kim mentioned that the European flag has 12 stars and he expressed his feeling that “especially European members have more significance during this 12 year course, especially Foundation Day. This morning I really felt that you are the right members who really need to understand the 12 years course before Foundation Day and after Foundation Day.” The lecturer mentioned that based on the Divine Principle we know that the number 12 signifies completion. We entered that realm of completion and the direct dominion course during the 12 years from 2001 to 2012. “According to systematic theology the Lord of the Second Advent will come and establish New Heaven and Earth, meaning it is different from satanic sovereignty, New Heaven and New Earth.” But we don’t have a New Heaven and New Earth. This means that the purpose of the 12 year course is not fulfilled.

Father had emphasized in 2001 that we really need to establish the Kingdom of Heaven by the end of the 12 years course. But when we look at his speeches from 2006 to 2008, “Father focuses more on offering of Cheon Il Guk. Originally Father should realize not just offering. Originally Father needs to establish substantial CIG.” Dr. Kim summarized: “Heaven and earth should be united centered on True Love but our reality is not like that. When I look at myself, my family, our church, our nation, the world, spirit world I cannot see complete unity and unification. This is somehow a very difficult task for us to do after Foundation Day. Without doing this we cannot realize God’s Kingdom on earth an in Heaven.

If we look at the vision for the world after Foundation Day, if we look at ourselves, our families – to the spirit world, we still don’t have clear standpoint in view of God, in view of True Parents, in view of Cheon Il Guk, and in view of True Love, God’s Word and the three Great Blessings and in view of God’s cosmic family.” Isn’t this a very sad reality, that even after decades of being educated by our True Parents we still do not understand God’s viewpoint well?!

Dr. Jin Choon Kim made clear statements: “If you read Divine Principle and the eight textbooks Father mentioned so many times, so many times, the Lord of the Second Advent should establish God’s ideal before going to spirit world. Many, many places you will find from Divine Principle and other textbooks. Father said, according to the exposition of the Divine Principle the Lord of the Second Advent will come on earth to complete the providence of restoration. To complete the providence of restoration and to complete the providence fulfilling God’s purpose of creation. That is the mission of True Parents together with us, not only our members but all humankind.”

In the slide presenting these points of the mission of the Lord of the Second Advent it even says in the second line: “to surely complete the providence fulfilling God’s purpose of creation”. The lecturer continued: “And also the Lord of the Second Advent will engraft all humankind physically and spiritually as God’s children. But we are not God’s children yet, completely. But that is the mission of the Lord of the Second Advent. The Lord of the Second Advent should realize God’s Will absolutely, not just conditionally. And also the Lord of the Second Advent comes to earth to restore the whole world realizing the three Great Blessings physically and spiritually. So we can see how much difficult mission True Parents have — very, very difficult…

The Lord of the Second Advent should definitely establish the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. So we must think of this basic teaching of the 8 textbooks in order to understand the time after Foundation Day. That will not happen in just one or two years but step by step. It will not happen by some system or some personal changes. So we should think about the fundamental level, the universal level, ultimate level, essential level, original level.

And also, we will see the Lord of the Second Advent will never die until he fulfills the purpose of the providence. He will never die. But many people say, ‘Oh Father is already 93 years old, Korean age… He cannot live forever on earth. What happened?’ Some people even say, ‘Oh Father’s teaching, the Divine Principle has some limitation. What happened in our church, in our families also?’ Some people think like that, but we cannot deny the basic teaching of the 8 textbooks. This is very basic, very basic teaching of the 8 textbooks. We cannot deny in order for us to understand the reality of our church, within our church or outside of our church.

And in the Peace Messages Father proclaimed many, many times the conviction to fulfill God’s ideal, the Kingdom of the peaceful Ideal World and God’s Fatherland. Father proclaimed many times, many times publicly during the World Tour. So if Father dies and goes to the spirit world without this one [pointing to the slide presenting the mission of the Lord of the Second Advent], ‘Oh, what happened? Rev. Moon’s teaching no meaning. That is to me very serious. Why True Father had 23 hours 30 minutes Hoon Dok Hae. I can really feel, I can really understand how much serious mission he has.

Who can solve that fundamental mission? Even True Children cannot solve that task. We also cannot solve that fundamental task. Every day True Father’s life and True Mother’s life is really difficult in heart because they cannot escape from these fundamental missions. So that is somehow our fundamental attitude and behavior. That is our basic attitude to understand True Parents’ life, why True Parents are going to Las Vegas… And in the speech volume Father also said that the Lord of the Second Advent will need to fulfill his mission of the first and second Adam in his generation, in his generation. Because the first Adam fell in his generation and also Jesus could not fulfill the original mission in his generation, so that’s why the Third Messiah should fulfill in his generation. This is a very serious mission.”

This lecture was given in February 2012 and now Father is no longer on earth. He had expressed on many occasions his desire that as the third Adam he really wants to fulfill his mission by 2012 but finally he was unable to do so because we did not fulfill our portion of responsibility, a fact which Dr. Jin Choon Kim stated clearly. Are we ready to face this reality and accept the consequences? So far the response by our worldwide membership and especially by our leaders to Father’s premature death on the cross has been very, very poor. None of them stood up to take responsibility for having nailed True Father to the cross, that we caused his premature departure from this world. There was no foundation for him any more to continue his mission on earth because we had lost faith in the realization of God’s ideal in line with God’s providence.

Also we had not substantiated the principle in our relationships together and in becoming the original substance of the Divine Principle ourselves or as expressed in the Principle; an ‘individual truth body’. We weren’t loving each other, taking care of each other so there was no real foundation of substance for Father to stand on. Where can the Parents stand if there is no sibling love, no axis for the Heavenly Kingdom? How can God expand his Kingdom when the children do not understand his heart and do not practice the way of Heaven in regards to relationships. Father said the secret to going to Heaven is to love your brothers and sisters. Where we do that True Parents will be with us.

We didn’t, so we lost Father. Can God be with us if we don’t love, which is the fundamental essence of God’s being. No He can’t, so because we didn’t love one another after all these years, Father could no longer be with us. We pushed him away and sent him the way of the cross just as the religious leaders pushed Jesus away and sent him the way of the cross for which they do not want to take responsibility. If we want to get out of hell we must love and become like God.

Isn’t that the first Blessing, “…to be perfect as your Heavenly Father.”? “If you do not love the brethren you abide in death. How can you say you love God who you can’t see and hate your brother who you can see.” (I John 4:20) “If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar, for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen is not able to love God whom he has not seen.” We have become too caught up in dogma and the letter of the law and not practicing the substance of the Divine Principle; True Love.

We all know that the First Israel denies until today their part in the death of Jesus just as Christians as the Second Israel deny the Arrival of the Lord of the Second Advent and reject True Parents as the Messiah. Now we as third Israel have joined those who live in denial, ignoring the fact that we are responsible for Father’s untimely death as the one who had come to build God’s Kingdom substantially but could not do so because of our refusal to unite with him wholeheartedly. The actual tragedy could not be any worse. Not only did Father have to leave this earth because of us but now we even deny this fact and refuse to take responsibility which means nothing less than God’s providence has come to a standstill with us at this point.

The Lord of the Second Advent came to realize God’s ideal substantially here on earth as Dr. Kim pointed out very well in his lecture, but now after we have killed the one whom God had sent, no leader of our church is ready to take responsibility for this worst kind of sin. In this way all members who unite with this attitude of their leaders show an equally irresponsible attitude which means that God has no chance to continue his core providence through any of those who belong to the third Israel and who do not repent thoroughly for having caused the Third Adam to go the way of the cross.

God has been waiting for the appearance of the Fourth Israel, for those who embody the heart of the Fourth Adam since Father proclaimed that new realm on August 20, 2003. We have not become the people of the Forth Israel Heaven has been eagerly longing for but remained in the realm of death as the failed Third Israel. True Parents already proclaimed this 8 years ago on October 3, 2004: “The First, Second and Third Israel all failed. Father indemnified it all and created the Fourth Israel. We must absolutely tear down all walls and barriers starting with the First Israel, the Second Israel and the Third Israel… This is the work to bring the Kingdom of God on earth.”

We have not been doing the work of God through absolutely breaking down all walls which are the handiwork of Satan but continued to uphold barriers between us instead of becoming one in heart as the resurrected people of the Fourth Israel, especially after True Parents paid an incredible price through the

helicopter crash at the top of the growth stage of the 3 four year periods between 2001 and 2012. Even now, after True Father had to pay the ultimate price of giving his physical life on the cross we refuse to repent and to change totally in order to become a completely new person who acts based on a vital relationship with the Living God. When will we realize how far off the original course we have gone collectively?
