Investing in the Balkan region - National Messiahship

Those among you who read the memos sent out by the Unification Church World Mission Headquarters know that they are always addressed to: “Dear Regional Presidents, National Messiahs, National Leaders,…”

Now what is the position of the national messiahs between the regional presidents and the national leaders? This is a very important question to understand because national messiahs are entrusted with the task of being messiahs for the nation.

In 1996 Father called elder members from Korea, Japan, America, England, France, Germany (Austria) and Italy – the 7 main providential nations to become national messiah candidates. Then both husband and wife of those who volunteered attended a 40 day workshop in Cheong Pyeong which included a 7 day fast during that time where the schedule was intensive from early morning often until midnight.

Those who were victorious during that 40 day course could participate in the “Heavenly lottery” at the end of the workshop where they were assigned to one of the member nations of the United Nations towards the goal of 4 families representing the Adam (Korea), Eve (Japan), Abel (America, England and France) and Cain (Germany/Austria, Italy) for every country with the goal of their working together in the position of representing the restored original family of Adam and Eve with their restored children Cain and Abel.

These families are in the position of the ancestors of the nation to which they were appointed and have the responsibility to make sure that the right Heavenly tradition is established there. Father explained that the Family Messiah represents the formation stage, the Tribal Messiah the growth stage and the National Messiah the perfection stage.

Messiahship equals Parentship. This means that the national messiahs are in the position of parents for the nation, representing True Parents who are in such a position for the whole cosmos.

Now how does this look in praxis, in reality? How well is the position of National Messiahship fulfilled in every country of the world? The situation varies greatly from nation to nation but on the whole it is clear that this position is not well represented and fulfilled, which means a tragedy for all those countries where the parents for the nation are not there, investing their heart and soul for their children, the inhabitants of these lands.

Such is the very sad reality which God and True Parents have to face. They sent out the National Messiahs but unfortunately they have not been well received in many countries by our own church leaders and members, this means that the unity between the representatives of True Parents on the national level – the national messiahs and the national leaders - has not been fulfilled. How can God work if those in the highest position in the country are not united with one another?

It is truly a tragedy that the position of national messiah, is not an accepted reality and because of this fact, the mission to restore all the lands on earth have been suffering greatly. The point is not to criticize the national messiahs who are not doing very well in fulfilling their mission but to recognize the importance of this position and to encourage those who have been entrusted with such a great Heavenly task to do their very best to fulfil it.

At the same time the awareness must be raised in each country concerning the great importance of the mission of National Messiahship which has to be fulfilled substantially as they are parents for the nation, representing True Parents, loving all members and ultimately all people with the heart that True Father and True Mother have for the inhabitants of these lands – for all humankind.

Now this task of fulfilling the mission of national messiahship exists of course also in the Balkan nations and my investment for these countries is of course connected with this problem of the lack of dedication by certain national messiahs who may have all kinds of causes. Therefore I ask you not to judge any of them and from my side I try to avoid mentioning the names of the countries I am talking about but in the end it is clear what is going on in which nation.

Again, I am not speaking about problems in my public reflections in order to criticize but to point out what is wrong or missing and to encourage the awareness in our worldwide membership to have the right attitude in line with what our True Parents are teaching. My reflections reach thousands of members around the world so I am accordingly serious about what I am writing and I take full responsibility for everything I am saying.

At the same time I ask each one of you for forgiveness for any misunderstanding concerning situations where I may have lacked in presenting the issue and I apologize to everybody who feels that I am not talking in the right way. Why I am speaking up? Because I am a long time member of our church and have seen good and bad times, I have seen first-hand under which conditions God can work and where he is blocked because unity is not established within our movement on the various levels of our mission outreach.

As I am investing into Balkan nations I do so as national messiah who is helping his peers, fellow national messiahs to fulfil their responsibility. The nation entrusted to my family is rather small with some 60 000 inhabitants, so I should not selfishly concentrate only on these people but help fellow national messiahs who have much greater responsibilities in countries with millions of people, up to the ones who are entrusted to be national messiahs for well over a billion people, as it is the case for China.

For these reasons I am not centering my work as national messiah on my own country but try to practice what True Parents have taught us – to love others more than myself, to love other families more than my own family, to love other tribes more than my own tribe and to love other nations more than my own nation.

Because there is already the reality of a lack of awareness of the importance of the mission of national Messiahship there is also misunderstanding concerning my investment in various countries where I am supporting our church. I am not doing whatever I want but I pray deeply and search for God’s will continuously.

True Father told us clearly that our Heavenly Father is standing at the forefront of the providence and guiding it. Therefore we must first and foremost connect with Him and ask for His guidance so that He can lead us in the right way. If this is done well by those who are in the position of continental directors, national messiahs and national leaders then unity of heart on the highest level of leadership is secured and God’s work can prosper.

Sadly enough, this is generally not the case. Therefore we all need to invest and pray that this situation will change now. We can no longer allow disunity to exist in our own ranks. Of course it is a very difficult task, but the more leaders and members feel responsible for it the quicker the urgently needed changes can come. For me personally this situation means that even when my investment as a national messiah to help my fellow NMs who are appointed to the respective countries is not welcomed I have to continue my dedication with a parental heart and digest any kind of difficulties with a loving heart, never allowing any kind of resentment no matter how I may be treated.

As I mentioned before, my heartistic investment in the Balkan countries is very much connected with loving one’s enemy, to overcome animosity on many levels and to win the victory based on practicing True Love, which is implementing the secret of how to subjugate Satan, which True Parents have taught us, namely loving the children of our enemy more than our own children.

These are the challenges I am faced with as I continue my work to support our church in various Balkan countries. It is an investment of sweat, blood and tears - which often flow freely - whereby shedding blood means for me going through all the pain in one’s heart in the face of the realities I am confronted with.

The victory has to be won on all levels. Not only in our families or in our mission as Tribal Messiahs but also on the national level so that we can restore one nation after another back to God. This is our common responsibility and for this very purpose I am investing day by day.

In my reflections I share with you about my work and my conviction concerning God’s will. I cannot speak in most cases more concretely about what kind of situations I am encountering because there is always the behaviour of certain individuals involved and I do not wish to put them into public attention but to speak about general attitudes which must be corrected so that God can fulfil His ideal through us being perfect objects to Him, completely pure with a crystal clear conscience, fully aligned with the Heart of Heaven. Therefore I am asking you to please understand the reason why I cannot mention any names or describe specific situations in detail but have to speak more generally to get the points across which I am trying to convey to you based on my experiences of working directly on the frontline of heart to heart restoration.

Please pray for the serious issues I am writing about, whereby the fulfilment of the mission of National Messiahship stands in a central position as the lack of parental love on the national level is a tragedy for every country. The four national messiah families have been appointed to most nations and their investment is crucial, but in reality lacking a lot.

On the other hand there is a poor awareness of national leaders concerning the great importance of the mission of the national messiahs and a lack of readiness to welcome their investment, which also needs our prayer support so that the right attitude will be manifested.
