“Connecting the World through Peace” This motto inspired members of the Universal Peace Federation Munich and their friends and guests from different faith traditions, altogether 31 participants, to realize a peace bicycle tour in Munich connecting Judaism, Christianity and Islam on Sunday, 12. August 2018. Our local motto was “Peace-Shalom-Salam Aleykum - Getting to know / understand / cooperate - With the Bicycle together to Three Houses of God”.
We started off at the train station of the Munich suburb Ismaning and cicled to the Islamic Center of Munich, where we were welcomed warmly and received a detailed tour through the mosque.
After that we took off for the longest second part of our tour. We drove through nice neighborhoods and parks and had a good rest at the English Garden near the Seehaus.
Then we continued and soon arrived at one of the biggest Roman Catholic churches in Munich St. Kajetan, where we stopped and had our “spiritual break”, moments of prayer for peace.
Our last tour-part brought us to the Jewish Synagogue Ohel Jakob right near the city center where we concluded happily our tour - a strong signal for peace and inter-religious cooperation and unification.
A strong prayer for peace with body, heart and soul! All of us wore a blue or white Peace Road T-shirt and witnessed along the 18 kilometres tour for the International Peace Highway. All day long heaven smiled at us with bright sunshine and a little breeze like telling us “Yes, your effort for peace will be heard”.
