WFWP Europe and Eurasia: Celebrating the International Day of the Families in the Eastern Mediterranean

A Journey of Harmony and Peace - from the Family to the Nation and Region: The Case of Türkiye, Greece and Cyprus

On the 30th of May 2025, WFWP Middle East and WFWP Turkey organised a webinar to listen to the voices of the three countries, Cyprus, Turkey and Greece.

The UN Office representative gave a hopeful presentation that war is not inevitable, and women need to campaign for this message.

The Turkish Cypriot speaker emphasised the stereotypes about women that exist which prevent women’s voice to be heard. The Greek Cypriot speaker spoke about the way to reach reconciliation. The Turkish speaker who could not come, excused herself. The Greek speaker explained that peace starts with the individual.

The MC concluded by explaining about the Bridge of Peace, the signature project of WFWP worldwide.

Speakers and participants agreed that there has to be a follow up to this very important issue of sustainable peace and harmony between the three countries of the East Mediterranean.
