“To love nature is to love God and humanity. When human life resonates with nature, the human character can blossom in perfection. The flowers of a true culture of heart, a true artistic world, will bloom.” — Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, Messages of Peace (5–76, 6.13.2006)
First-generation Unificationist Robert Becker demonstrates the Hyojeong culture through his art. At an early age, Robert found his passion for art, often painting nature and portraits, and described the act as being similar to worship in lovingly recreating the beauty that God has put into creation.
“I love seeing God’s beauty in nature and in everything He created,” Robert said. “Through my art I receive joy from capturing the beauty of God’s heart and connecting to His love both physically and spiritually.”
Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Co-Founders Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, affectionately known as True Parents, have set the example for building what Unificationists call the Hyojeong culture — a culture centered on a heart of filial piety towards God. They have lived for the sake of others; they have demonstrated an unequivocal love and dedication to God, our Heavenly Parent, and they have spent their lives teaching that we are the children of God. We are capable of living to fulfill God’s dream of One Family Under God and build a relationship with Him as our parent.
On March 22, 2020, after watching the new live-streamed Sunday Service, Robert felt inspired to paint a portrait of emcee Kaeleigh Moffitt, national director of FFWPU Youth and Young Adult Ministry (YAYAM), activated by how the lighting was subtle but beautiful, and really shaped Kaeleigh’s face.

“When I paint a portrait, I get a burst of joy from seeing its ideal form in the mind of God and resonating with its ideal spirit,” Robert explained. “It leads me to feel more connection and respect for the person’s humanity and uniqueness.”
Currently, Robert is painting full time and is continuing his art education by studying The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, a 12-week course that focuses on the spiritual path to higher creativity.
“Our portion of responsibility is tied to creativity. We must create good relationships with God, with our families, and with nature.”
