Forming Ancestral Committees: Mobilizing ancestors to help the providence and our tribe — Laurence Baer

After having liberated and blessed our 210 generations of ancestors (in 4 lines on both husband and wife side), we wanted to find the best way to mobilize them to help the providence and to help our own tribe.

In addition to our own ancestors, we also liberated Rabbi Gamaliel, grandson of Hillel. This was in response to a request sent to Jewish members by Andrew Wilson, with a list of historical Jewish figures that he was hoping to help liberate.

Also, back in the early 1980s, Mrs. Durst had told us that each of us had been assigned three angels as well as a cain angel, and that we needed to name those angels. We were responsible for assigning them duties.

Our 210 generations were blessed in December 2012. We finally decided to organize ancestral & angel committees in December 2014.

We selected three overall co-chairmen to manage our committees. After reviewing the ancestors with whom we were familiar, we decided that the three best co-chairs would be:

Laurence’s maternal grandmother

Muriel’s maternal grandmother

Rabbi Gamaliel.

As the overall co-chairs, in our structure, they actually head up two committees:

In addition to these three co-chairs, we also appointed Laurence’s spiritual son, Dr. George Detlefsen to serve as the senior advisor to the three co-chairmen, the ensure that each committee is focusing on its highest purpose from God and True Parents’ perspective. We felt this was important since none of the three co-chairmen had known True Parents during their lifetime.

For the other committees, we generally tried to appoint one chair from Laurence’s ancestors and one chair from Muriel’s ancestors, although some were left blank. Since the overall co-chairs have the authority to appoint and change committee chairs, we left it in their hands.

The overall purpose of these committees is to organize and mobilize our ancestors so they can be resurrected, while at the same time assisting the efforts of our tribe on the Earth. In addition, these committees provide the vehicle to mobilize our angels.

Beyond the 430 generations that we have liberated and blessed, I also prayed that all of our remaining ancestors as well as all of our angels, once they have become absolute good spirits, be mobilized to work in these committees as well, so that they too could experience resurrection.

I keep an updated list of committee responsibilities & goals in my desk drawer, and pray daily that the committees can be mobilized based on those lists.

In Sept. 2018, I had my first opportunity to communicate with our committees – thanks to a reading we had with Claire Daugherty who is a gifted medium.

Excerpts of that reading were included in my sermon of 10/8/2018.

Here are a few interesting ones:

First: Claire’s opening observations as the reading started:

“ Okay! Well, this is serious business here! But I feel like bursting into laughter. I see this big boardroom table and a beautiful mahogany table. Everybody’s filing in. They’ve all got their folders and they’re taking seats and some people are dressed in business attire. Everybody shows themselves as young even though they might have been 80 or 90 when they died. They’re all - you know the women are in very smart, up to date, business suits. Very fashionable, very professional.”

This confirmed to me that the committees were operating as intended and were very serious, centering on Muriel and myself as the tribal central figures.

Second: Dr. George’s remarks. He had horrible degenerative dementia for approximately 5 years before he finally passed. However, the on the day of his passing, he became coherent and was able to speak with his wife before he died. His remarks address that, and then address his role as senior advisor to the committee Co-chairs.

Claire: “ All right… We’re in the board room, we’re at the table. George would you like to say anything? Do you have something to share with us?

He’s laughing. He’s laughing. He’s saying…

“As you know I left long before I left. I was out there traveling around. He’s showing me his brain. He said my brain was like Swiss cheese. It was not working. So sometimes when I’d try to come back I couldn’t find my way back to myself. And that was frustrating. And it was like everything coming out of my mouth was not really coming from my spirit. It’s like it was getting kind of scrambled in my brain.

I was moving all over the place I was traveling. I was traveling and I kind of got annoyed when I got called back sometimes. “

That he was his spirit and was kind of roaming around and he was looking at all different things and he said: “This time that I had when I was crazy as a loon was valuable time. And it was a grace. It was a gift given to me that before I left I had a chance to sort through a lot of things on other planes while I was still connected to my physical body even though my brain wasn’t functioning correctly. It’s different from doing it after you’re dead. This is a little hard to describe. It doesn’t make sense to you. But I was still… on the earth. Even though I wasn’t in my right mind. I was able to work out a lot of stuff before I died. On a higher plane. So I’m really grateful. I’m sorry it was really hard on the people around me and I know it was it was really hard on my wife but she did the right thing. And she kept me safe. And fortunately I didn’t do any real harm. You know I know that that would have been awful if I’d really hurt anyone or done something irreparable because I wasn’t in control and she knew that. So I’m very grateful that she kept me safe and she just held on as long as she could. And I’m really grateful that I got to come back and tell her goodbye. And I was, I was happy to leave my body because it wasn’t working. You know it’s like I’m seeing it like a bunch of bulbs that have blown out like pow pow pow.

So thank you for my new job. I like it. I still have a lot to learn. We Moonies think we know it all. Well guess what - we don’t. We know something, but we don’t know nearly as much as we think we know and we have to learn here too. We’re not that far ahead. We tend to think of ourselves on “another plane” but actually we’re just we’re just maybe one grade ahead. And sometimes we’re one grade behind or 10 grades behind. There are all different levels. And he said it’s not so much based on knowledge. Yeah. We were given a huge dose of knowledge but most of us were not developed enough or are not developed enough, … still plenty of you left on the earth - to really understand what we were learning. We maybe, maybe, got five or 10 percent of it and thought we really had it all. But guess what we didn’t. So we have to keep learning here. And he said the real intelligence that matters is not how high your IQ is or how many degrees you have it’s right here it’s in the heart and some of these people are definitely my seniors in the heart level. I might have had information that they didn’t have access to, but they had wisdom. Wisdom and Love, Patience, Forgiveness, Forbearance – a long list of things that I didn’t have. So they let me sit in the seat. Because they know I like thinking I’m in charge. And yeah I do have information. I do. It’s true I have information that I’m happy to share. And because they have such highly developed hearts - especially these two

ladies I think these are your two grandmas (Claire’s comment:- who show themselves as beautiful young women) They are way ahead of anywhere I ever got close to. I think that both of them lived through a lot of suffering in their lives. And they were very quiet about it. They just … they were longsuffering in different ways both of them had to face different kinds of trials and tribulations – tragedies, uncertainties but they just, neither one of them. They didn’t give up and they kept going. So he said you know they really are qualified to hold this position.

Laurence’s Note: Both of those grandmothers had children involved in World War II.

There was one other interesting excerpt from this reading that I would like to share.

Laurence’s father had an older brother (Arnie) who suffered from depression his entire adult life, after many of his extended family died in the holocaust.

He passed in 1977, and he left some money to Laurence. There was a dispute between Laurence and his father about that inheritance.

Claire: So he left you that money and he said “seven’s a good number, you know, you ever hear of lucky seven?” And he trusted you. He gave it to you because he figured you were an adult, you could do anything you wanted with it. He didn’t need it anymore. And if you wanted to give it to the church that’s fine. And in fact from the spirit world he was actually very happy that you did that you fought for it. You got it. And you passed it on. So it was kind of like, he said, “it’s sort of like I feel like I own stock in a church. You know you. You bought me some shares. Thank you.” OK. Now that we are paying attention to him he’s looking quite serious. And he says…

“I want you to write a letter to your dad. ” I want you to write a letter to your dad and ask his forgiveness and tell him all the wonderful things he did for you and thank him for all the blessings he gave to you. And recognize that he is the one that laid the foundation for you to be sitting here right now. Even though he didn’t understand the choices that you made he made conditions for you to be able to make them. Are you following me? His life was the foundation and he was the one that was chosen. His line was the one that really brought the blessing into the family and the things that you accused him of, were absolutely true. You didn’t make them up but it’s kind of like he’s hanging his head. I see your dad as kind of, he wants to be. He needs healing. No - you’ve already liberated him I know but there’s, there’s some unfinished business and just if you can write - and you could maybe sing him a song. But he wants you to write it down. Because once you write it - it takes a physical form. And it lives as a historic document.

And it goes into an archive whether the actual physical paper gets thrown in that recycling or it gets stuffed into a book and is discovered 40 years later it doesn’t matter so much. Once it’s written on paper it takes substantial form. And he’s giving you some suggestions here. I see him handing you a legal pad and a number two pencil and he said draw a column, and write down in the column. The

first column - everyone who harmed you who needs to be forgiven and then in the second column put down all the people whom you would like to be forgiven by. And you might find the same people in both columns sometimes. But if you do this, … you know just go through and take your time and do it sincerely - and one way if they’re already in the spirit world one way you can do is to write the letters - you are going to find this to be amazingly empowering. You’re going to find incredible liberation. You’ve already - you’ve done a lot of work already. I see that it’s almost like some of the things I’m saying it sounds like kindergarten - like color inside the lines and you’re way past this. But sometimes it’s good to go back to the beginning. So somehow there’s as you do this very simple little exercise - and you don’t have to rush through it, take your time - Things are going to come up - kind of bubble up to the surface, that you’ll have long forgotten about. And it’s almost like digging old clothes out of the closet and saying well look at that! I haven’t seen that shirt in years! And it’s got a stain on it. I didn’t even remember. Let’s see if it can be saved and if not we’ll give it to Good Will. We can still give it to Good Will but we’ll try and get the stain out first. And if you’re able to get the stain out - you try different things, then you can pass it on to Good Will or you can wear it, or and if you can’t you can recycle it. You know if it’s the right material it can become a rag to polish your car. But everything has to be… it’s kind of like compost. You can take - even manure makes great fertilizer. Because it’s full of living organisms.

Yeah, You’ve got to shovel the shit. And if you think of it as cow pies - they make things blossom and grow. The compost pile… have you ever heard of volunteers in the compost pile?

Sometimes you know you’ll get some fabulous squash. Squash loved to grow out of the compost. You’ll throw and old rotten squash in the compost, and the next thing you know, a year later, you’ve got squash, or pumpkins, and it might be better than the stuff in your garden because its growing out of the decomposed rotted stuff. So sometimes the junk and the garbage and the cow pies, they provide the richest and the most fertile medium to grow good things. So it’s very beneficial to do a little deep cleaning now and then, and even though I have a feeling you’ve done a lot of this work already, if you do your two columns, you’ll be amazed at what you come up with. It’s kind of like cleaning out your closet. You’re going to find some long forgotten things, but you’ll be able to move it all on to its next highest evolution, whether that’s giving it away so it can be repurposed and recycled, or deciding to reuse it again “Oh I didn’t know where that was, I’m so glad to see it. Oh I love those shoes, I thought they were lost forever.” No they’re just hidden in the bottom of the closet, behind, you know, a couple of suitcases. “

Note: Arnie was never married. We liberated him and he was blessed in the spirit world, and we have prayed that he can also work in our ancestral committees so that he and his spouse can also be resurrected, since they have no descendants of their own.

The following is the full list of our committees, and the basic responsibilities of each committee as we organized them.

Open heart of each family member to God and True Parents; and to the assistance from Connecting to TP and spiritual the spiritual world. Help each family member to find daily inspiration, and to feel nourishment connected to the providence in a meaningful and fulfilling way. Help each family member to make choices that will help them connect more strongly and deeply to God and True Parents. Help each family member to understand the importance and value of personal integrity, Personal Integrity honesty, and commitment to one’s word and principles. Help each family member make choices that will strengthen his/her personal integrity. Help each family member to maintain purity before the Blessing and faithful and Pure Love beautifully fulfilling inter-personal and sexual relationships with their Blessed partners Relationships/Blessing/True after the Blessing. Help each couple develop the insight, skills, and traditions to pass on Parents’ Tradition these values, practices, and skills to their lineage and where possible, to their extended families. Help each couple to provide their children with a safe and nurturing environment, Raising and Protecting Children allowing each child to inherit True Parents Life, Love, and Lineage, and to mature as a righteous, principled adult who can receive the Blessing. Help each family member to connect deeply with HP, and to develop deep faith and trust that HP is watching over their life, and working through their life for a higher purpose. Faith, Hope, Positive Attitude, Help each family member maintain a strong attitude of hope, gratitude, and enthusiasm, Enthusiasm to empower them to fulfill their goals and purposes in their lives. Help each family member establish strong self-esteem based on their relationship with HP and True Parents. Acts of Kindness and Generosity Help each family member to continuously grow their hearts of kindness and generosity through acts of giving and service. Help each family member to develop an attitude of peace and confidence with respect to Victorious Seung Hwa their transition to the spirit world, and to accomplish a victorious transition centered on True Love. Help each family member to develop the discipline, habits and healthy lifestyle to achieve Health & Fitness Lifestyle and maintain optimum fitness and health through good food choices, good exercise, and good lifestyle choices. Watch over each family member and help protect each family member from both Safety, Security, Protection physical and spiritual danger. Provide clear advanced warnings of future &/or imminent (Physical and Spiritual) dangers and strong ongoing encouragement to help each family member make wise choices and decisions to avoid spiritual or physical hurt. Help each family member see themselves and their own potential from HP’s point of view, and to select their path, careers, goals, and challenges in life in line with and in Providential: harmony with HP’s hopes and expectations for them. Help each family member derive inspiration, self-esteem, and great power and motivation from a deep understanding or his/her value and the contributions they make towards the providence. Business and Financial Help each family member achieve great success and avoid significant mistakes in Management business, investment and financial management. Organization, Time Management, Neatness, and Help each family member develop the skills, habits, motivation, and self-respect to Accountability achieve excellence in organization, time management, neatness, and accountability. Help each family member achieve the insights to select educational and career goals in Education and Career line with their own talents and gifts, and in line with their own Providential goals and Development responsibilities. Help each family member pursue and achieve their education and career goals and to find great fulfillment and satisfaction through those activities.

Help each family member find stimulating and rewarding channels through which to develop their own artistic and creative talents; and help each family member to achieve Artistic and Creative great personal satisfaction through those pursuits. In addition, where those activities Development have providential significance, help those family members to achieve extraordinary and providential success. Help each family member develop a deep appreciation for nature and for the creation, Love and Appreciation of the and to experience profound and fulfilling stimulation and nourishment through their Creation interaction with and understanding of nature and the creation. Help each family member, couple, and family to develop deep, nurturing, supportive, and Family and Community rewarding relationships with their families and communities, and to inform and uplift relationships each of those relationships with HP and TP’s love, wisdom, and spirit. Help each family member, couple, and family to develop deep, nurturing, supportive, and With Spiritual Children & Their rewarding relationships with their Spiritual Children and Spiritual Children’s families, and Families to inform and uplift each of those relationships with HP and TP’s love, wisdom, and spirit. Help each family member, couple, and family to develop deep, nurturing, supportive, and Relationships with Extended rewarding relationships with their extended families, and to inform and uplift each of Family those relationships with HP and TP’s love, wisdom, and spirit. Help each family member, couple, and family to develop deep, nurturing, supportive, and Relationships with In Law rewarding relationships with their in-law families (families of the spouses of their Families children), and to inform and uplift each of those relationships with HP and TP’s love, wisdom, and spirit.

House Restoration (including Help each family member and couple to find, maintain, decorate, and continually raising funds) upgrade their homes esthetically, functionally, and structurally, and to help them secure and manage the financial resources to achieve this. Work to find and liberate those ancestors who are not yet restored to the level of absolute good spirits, and connect them to Heung Jin Nim and True Father to participate Ancestral Liberation in DP workshops and become absolute good spirits, so that they can mobilize to assist in our ancestral committees and fully resurrect. Appoint committee chairmen for each committee, and appoint new chairmen to replace them if necessary; oversee each committee to ensure that they are properly focused, effective, productive, and inspired; Arbitrate and resolve any disputes or frictions within each committee; Set overarching goals and directions to help coordinate the activities of Coordinating Committee/ Angel the committees; Mobilize the angels that are assigned to our family and allocate them to Management & Allocation their respective committees. Make sure they are productive and that they work well with their respective committee chairmen and committees with a high level of harmony and cooperation. Make sure that individual ancestors are focusing on these priorities from True Parents perspective and not based on their own perspective or theology.
