It’s that time again! We hope you’ve all been well and are staying safe. This newsletter includes subregional highlights and updates from the fall season, plus a special message from our National YAYAM Coordinator, Katherine Anglin.
We love you <3
Hello YAYAM family,
It’s been a wild ride these past few years. We’ve all been through a lot of difficulties. But regardless of the challenges, one thing for sure is that we are all stronger for it. Isn’t it amazing that we have the ability to adapt, change and grow as humans?
As we head into the holiday season, let us reflect on the goodness that God has blessed us with this year--health, family, community, faith. Let us find the strength to open our hearts and minds to the ways God is guiding us to be better.
Also, as we head into the end of the year, I encourage you to finish strong. Stronger than you started at the beginning of this year so you can launch into 2022 at full speed. Don’t wait to start new habits and set goals. God needs us now and can work through us just as we are.
Katherine Anglin, National YAYAM Coordinator
Canada In October, Toronto held their first in-person gathering since the beginning of quarantine! 20 youth in high school and college gathered and went for a fall hike through a path in the forest before gathering back at the church center for a homemade kimbap and pizza dinner!
West Bay Area YAYAM hosted a youth service last month--everything from the band to the sermon to the lunch and sports afterward was planned and rum by youth and young adults in the community. The atmosphere was bright and welcoming, and the welcoming service attracted many youth who haven’t been as active recently.
South The Dallas community held a Fall Festival in early November. There was food, raffles, games, kid activities, and even art vendor stalls! There was a good turn out, and all ages seemed to have a lot of fun.
Midwest Over the Halloween weekend, the Kansas City and Omaha communities organized a joint YAYAM meet-up in Omaha for youth, young adults, and young families! The weekend’s events included a trip to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo, dinner at Sakura Bana, and lots of time to catch up. The group also attended the Sunday service and Halloween party hosted by the Omaha community, with many dressed up in fun costumes.
The quality of relationships strengthened between each YAYAM community was undeniable, and invaluable memories were created. The Halloween party in particular was a testament to the beautiful familial relationships of all ages that exist within our community.
Southeast The DMV community held a one-day workshop and Halloween Party on October 30. The workshop was focused on getting more familiar with the Spirit World and the importance of our responsibilities in the physical world. Yay for in person workshops!
Northeast In October, SR1 began hosting their own Devoted program with over 60 participants in attendance. They’ve had speakers like Yun-a Johnson and John and Sandra Lowen, and they will be concluding their online program in person at UTS in December.
Welcome to the team! Our team is constantly changing and growing, so we’d like to introduce you to two new members of our SRC team! Gabby Von Euw from CA and Isaac Jeong from MD are the new SR 5 and SR 4 Coordinators. Satomi Kikuchi and Ain Nomura sadly moved on, but we love them dearly and wish them all the best, and we’re so excited for what Gabby and Isaac are bringing to the team.
