This morning’s headline reads: Over 50 Faithful Overcome the Dual Threats Covid-19 and Heat to Rally for Peace and Reconciliation.
The Peace Road made its stop Sunday at the National Civil Rights Museum. In spite of the current threats from Covid-19 and a heat index of 105+, there was great enthusiasm from an informed crowd of Memphis, Tennesseans, who love Heavenly Parent and His ideal of peace and unity among all of his children.
Besides the visitors from out-of-town the rally was joined by many from Nashville (3 hours away), and several local and Nashville pastors and ministers. The featured speakers were Dr. Michael Jenkins, local pastor Dannie Holmes, ACLC TN State Chairman, Ms. Beverly Robertson, former President of the National Civil Rights Museum, Randell Gamble, Co-founder of the Lynching Society Project/Memphis. Dynamic prayers were given by Apostle Sharon Spikner and Dr. Luonne Rouse, ACLC Executive Director, and minister Kristi Moore.
The location was a profound reminder of Dr. Martin Luther King’s offering of his life for the sake of God’s Ideal Kingdom. We all felt like we were standing on “holy ground.”
Dr. Jenkins reminded us all that Dr. King’s legacy was “the accomplishment of God’s Kingdom.” Tolerance has no cohesive nor healing power in society. It leads to indifference, not understanding. Tolerance allows the gulfs between us to remain in place. In fact, there is little in the concept of tolerance that pulls away from isolation.
Tolerance brings with it implicit moral relativism. Who is to say what is right and what is wrong? Moral relativism suggests that there are not absolutes to which we can all be held accountable. Such a thing was far from the thinking of Martin Luther King. In one of his works Dr. King makes the following statement: “At the center of the Christian faith is the affirmation that there is a God in the universe who is the ground and the essence of all reality. A Being of love and boundless power, God is the creator, sustainer, and conservator of values…In contrast to ethical relativism, Christianity sets forth a system of absolute moral values and affirms that God has placed within the very structure of this universe certain moral principles that are fixed and immutable.”
We are grateful that Heavenly Parent is reviving the spirit of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, in America, through True Parents in this age through endeavors like the Peace Road. Thank you for coming. Aju!
