Ikuko Gardiner ascended to the Spirit World on Saturday, 17 March, 2018, after a long illness. Ikuko lived for Heavenly Father and True Parents, expressing her joy to be within the direct dominion of God.

She was born in the city of Miyazaki in Kyushu, Japan. She studied art and calligraphy at a very young age and eventually graduated from Miyazaki University to become an art teacher and later to teach calligraphy and water colour painting in seminars around the world.

She was on an exchange cultural visit in Egypt in 1964 and met her husband, Colin Gardiner, while she was painting the Pyramids and Sphynx in Cairo. They were engaged in six days and married in Japan at the end of 1964.

Colin and Ikuko joined the Church in Zimbabwe in 1978 under the direction of Dr Lady Kim and were blessed as a previously married couple by True Parents in New York on 7 April, 1989. They have been members of the South London Church for the past ten years, while also continuing to interact with the Church in Zimbabwe.

They have three sons and daughters-in-blessing and nine grandchildren.
