Eulogy

Biographical sketch drawn from the recorded Seonghwa Ceremony (6 July 2020); some proper names approximate.

Gwyneth trained as a nurse at King's College Hospital and, during the Second World War, joined the RAF, caring for wounded soldiers regardless of nationality. It was after the war, while still serving as an RAF nurse, that she met her future husband, Brian. The early years of their marriage were modest: they began on a smallholding with pigs and chickens, supported by Gwyneth's nursing earnings, before eventually settling into a home in Sussex with their four children.

In time, her path changed dramatically. The Warners donated their home, and Gwyneth returned to communal life at Stanton Fitzwarren. There she became a mother figure to many, ran the village shop at One Mill Lane, managed the farm shop, and helped care for children at Cleeve House school. She and Brian were blessed in marriage in 1981.

Those who knew Gwyneth recalled her quick mind, her honesty, her grace, and her unmistakable sense of humour. She could be forthright and never hesitated to give an opinion, yet her warmth and care for others were felt immediately by anyone who met her. She loved tennis, Wimbledon, chocolate, the outdoors, the birds in her garden, and, above all, the company of family.
